Strange story here out of Indiana.  http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11800731/indiana-devin-davis-hit-car-driven-teammate-emmitt-holt
The school released a statement that sophomore forward Devin Davis was injured after being struck by a vehicle driven by freshman Emmitt Holt just moments after exiting the vehicle.
Davis was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and is currently in serious condition. Hospital spokeswoman Amanda Roach said the hospital had no information on Davis.

Sgt. Jeffery Canada of the Bloomington Police Department said the department was investigating the accident. He said a statement was likely to come later Saturday.
Canada says Holt and passengers in his SUV told police they had dropped Davis off in the parking lot outside the stadium about 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
Holt was driving away "when, for unknown reasons, Mr. Davis came into the roadway and struck the side of the vehicle near the front passenger windshield," Canada said.
Police found Davis unconscious with a head injury on the street that's just off the IU campus. Holt's Jeep Liberty had damage to its passenger side, front fender and windshield, Canada said.
Canada did not know whether blood tests had been done on Davis to determine whether he had been drinking.
Davis is a 6-foot-7 forward who averaged 2.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in 8.8 minutes last season while the 6-foot-7 Holt was a late signee who was set to go to prep school at Vermont Academy before he opted to play at Indiana this season.

No matter what happens, pretty awful situation for all involved.  Hope the kid makes a full recovery.

Holt registered a 0.025, according to the school. Someone is considered to be over the limit in Indiana if they have a BAC of at least .08 percent. If they are younger than 21 years old -- as was the case with Holt -- the limit is only .02 percent.

What is that, one drink or one beer that's not a 3.2%? When they say don't drink and drive under 21, they mean it.

If you hit someone who just exited your own vehicle, that has to be a 5+ year loss of license, drunk or sober, IMHO.
The article suggests the kid who had just exited the vehicle ran into its path as it pulled away. The description isn't that great to tell from that article alone.
