Intervention time?

It’s been a full week since the greatest comeback ever, and I STILL can’t get enough post-victory euphoria! I’m now watching yet another video related to the game – this one called “Tom Brady Five Rings” – posted in the “SB LI: Audio/Video/Pics Thread”, which you’ve all probably watched as well. And before this, let’s see, I watched “Inside the NFL” and “Sound Fx” videos. And rewatched the game twice. And keep reading the Pats game thread as well as every related thread in the Blinded by the Lombardis forum. And fast-forwarded through a tape of the Tuesday parade. And walked around work all week with my cell in my top pocket listening to ‘EEI. I think I started to lose grip sometime around Wednesday when my usually tolerant wife started complaining about all the football I was watching, probably somewhere in the middle of the seven Super Bowls in the Brady/Belichick era videos shown by NFL Network. Like some kind of addict, I’m now thinking where else I can forage because I just don’t want celebration of one of the greatest Boston sports victories to end. How about Patriots.com for BB’s post-game conference – was there one beyond the Chris Berman NFL Primetime interview that I may have somehow missed? There is no end in sight! Do I need an intervention? Do we all need an intervention?

This week taught me how much amazing Patriots shit is on Youtube. I just got through the Bill Belichick 'A Football Life', after watching a few old "Road to the Super Bowl" videos from '03 and '04. Combine the fan-made videos and the official NFL/NFL Films videos and you'll be set for viewing material until the draft.

(To answer your question, yes.)

I'm stuck on the NFL Network reruns of Pats SB's. Today they are doing it again sans-Giant games, which is what the overnight ratings must have born out this morning. Can't imagine anyone watched those two. But I'm amazed at the difference in the game within the Tom Brady era. White official pants? Joe Andruzzi playing with a concussion after the 'cobwebs' were openly discussed on camera. Crazy shit, getting lost in it for the second straight day. My opinion is Brady is so much better today than in those past years.

Rodney Harrison with another pick as I type. Doesn't get old.

I watched all the SB wins and a bunch of other stuff.

But for some reason I have an incredible urge to discuss this offseason FA and draft and think about team building decisions for next season. And very few people seem all the interested in discussing it right now so I'm jones'n.

Been all over the NFLN every day this week. After work. Making dinner on the weekends. Random thoughts -- BB looks like a kid in that Rams game.

Particularly exciting because it wasn't followed by a retirement announcement. Much less two.

So we have the last 15 years, plus cap room, another chance at 3 of 4 and it makes everything very special.

All that and possibly a top-10 pick coming for a backup QB.

I'm with you. I love the Mic'ed up stuff and a lot articles, but I tend to lose interest when the excitement of the unknown isn't there.

But I am pumped up to discuss all things about the 2017 season. Draft, FA's, depth chart, schedule, etc

Wives and significant others really need to give us a pass for at least 1 week after the super bowl or championship (Sox and Pats for me). After a big win I need to absorb everything. SportsCenter, NFLN, christ I'll even watch First Take. I mean outside of work the last 7 days I've spent damn near every waking hour watching something Pats related. I can understand the aggravation from their perspective, no question. If they don't like it tough shit. I have to put up with their shitty ass hallmark, oxygen christmas movies for a whole fucking month. Give me this week, bitch.

Related note;

I once shit-canned a gal while we were laying in bed one night a few days after SB 49. I knew she was pure batshit crazy early on, but when she asked me, "I just want to know why you don't love me like you love Tom Brady", I knew it was over. All I could whimper was "I don't love Tom Brady like I love you". However, I was really thinking, "How many Super bowls have you won?", "How many MVP's do you have?", "Do you make $15 million a year?", "How much joy have you given me?" "You know who doesn't let me down? Tom Fucking Brady!!" I didn't have the stones to say it, but I just said "if that's how you feel maybe we shouldn't be together".

I actually got sucked into the 18-1 SB last night. I was at the game and I don't think I've ever watched it before. I honestly cannot believe that we lost that game after watching it again. Eli's game-winning drive must be the WORST "game-winning" drive in SB history. I say that not with bitterness, but it was just absolutely amazing that they actually marched down and scored a TD there. The following happened on that drive with 2:42 left:

-Adalius Thomas had two sacks -- both awfully close to strip sacks as both times he got Eli from behind and went for the ball.
-Eli floated a ball up the sideline that Rodney Harrison got his hands on and deflected -- close to being almost picked.
-Eli floated another one over the middle of the field - an overthrow - fortunately for him, no safety was in position - it was a backfoot throw that was awful.
- Eli had the miscommunication with his WR and made the throw that went through Asante's hands
- 4th and 1 run by Jacobs who was tripped up before the line of scrimmage, and just barely fell over the line.
- The 3rd and 11 conversion to Hicks or Toomer (?) - the reverse side replay makes it look like the ball hit the ground, but it was never challenged or mentioned by the announcers.
- The ridiculous 3-hands-on-him-in-the-grasp-heave-to-Tyree catch. One thing I never noticed before was that if Tyree hadn't come down literally on top of Harrison's body, I think the ball hits the turf and it is a no-catch. By landing on Harrison's torso, Tyree stayed up a bit and the ball narrowly misses hitting the turf and popping loose.

I mean, in retrospect, it was the Reverse-Falcons 4th quarter -- there were like 8-10 things that could have happened that would have won the Patriots that game -- yet, none of them did.

I've watched all of the SB victories. I could watch 51 over and over and never grow tired of it - and no matter how many times I've seen it I still can't believe they won (and their largest margin of victory in a Super Bowl no less.) The Do Your Job piece with BB discussing the '14 season and the formations used against the Ravens is just pure awesome. ("Instinctively it's just hard not to cover him.") I'm also struck by just how many players have come and gone during the past sixteen years, and that's a little bittersweet. Those defenses in the early 00's, just incredible.

In the mean time I keep checking rumor pages to see if there's any news on the Jimmy G. trade lol and should that trade transpire what type of player they could get (i.e. a size/speed guy not normally available at the end of round 1.)

I'm just glad that for me, the replay desire for SB 51 begins at around the 7 minute mark of the 3rd quarter (like with SB 49, where it's at the 12 minute mark of the 4th).

Big time saver.

I would say I need an intervention but my wife is only a tick less obsessed than I am. Maybe with both need one.

Yeah but at some point you'll want to re-watch the whole thing just to remind yourself just how improbable it was. I mean, this game was flat out over.

The last time I watched I watched from the Falcons drive that made it 28-3. Gave some good context

Watching Turning Point on NBCSN for about the 10th time. I was off the grid on vacation for the past week, so I feel justified in binge watching everything Pats related.

I am currently into Falcons fans reaction videos on Youtube. Great stuff.

You guys are sick. I've only watched the game 2 or 3 times, and the 4th quarter plus OT another 5 times plus another few hours of specials about Brady's career etc. I was really upset yesterday when, driving around doing errands, the Sports Hub said that at noon they were going to replay their radio call (Zo) of the 4th quarter and OT, and I wasn't able to extend my running around to listen to it. Like I said, you guys are unhinged.

No time for an intervention. On another thread someone posted a link to the radio broadcast I was so upset to have missed yesterday. When I've finished with it I'll get back to telling you guys how insane you are.

I actually got sucked into the 18-1 SB last night. I was at the game and I don't think I've ever watched it before.
I wasn't there, but I also have never watched that game again until the other night. Two things:

1) The clock in the last Giants drive was definitely weird in the couple plays right before the helmet catch. I know someone made a YouTube video about it with a conspiracy theory vibe, but watching it play out in real time it felt more like total incompetence with the clock operator and/or officials signaling the calls on those plays. In any case, the Giants definitely got a ton of extra time to pull off that, as you rightly mention, horrible drive.

2) They had 0:29, 3 timeouts, the ball on the 26 and only down 3 points... why were they exclusively launching bombs on the final drive? Especially with Moss doubled, I'm surprised they didn't go for those 10-20 yard completions over the middle to get in field goal range.

Apologies if these things have been beaten to death in other threads.
