I've often thought about jailbreaking, but never have.  One reason I seriously considered it was for the sbsetting (I think that's what it was called) where you could get easy access to bluetooth and other options.  That seemed to be a fairly common reason for most people I spoke with.

Now that iOS has the control center in it, what other reasons are there to jailbreak?  No interest in bootlegged apps.

I'm guessing there's a way to get rid of the horrendous shake to undo while jailbreaking, right? I'm guessing that since I have company email and restrictions on my phone I can't, correct?

Basically it seems the only way to get rid of that is to stop moving so briskly.

Depending on how they've implemented it, they may or may not care. 90% of the companies i've worked with that have an MDM in place turn on jailbreak detection. However, if they're just using ActiveSync, then most likely they won't be able to tell.

I had to google Shake to undo, I've never noticed it nor had it popped up.

Happens to me all the time. I'll delete emails, walk across the office and be checking my emails 10 minutes later and it will ask if I want to undo the deletion. Half of the time I'd be wondering if I accidentally deleted something, and undo, and all of the purposely deleted emails would come back. Now I just ignore it, but it's still an annoyance as it's something I can't just turn off.

This jailbreak is known to be dirty. It's been discovered already that it installs a non-Cydia app store without telling you if your language is Chinese and it's unclear what else it's actually doing. Don't install it.

Customization, access to non-Apple-approved apps that aren't bootlegs or stolen, TV shows and movies (Show Box:  OK the app isnt bootlegged, but the content is).
I'm very interested in this Show Box app.  I subscribed to HBO for over 20 years before canceling it a couple of months ago.  I'd love to still be able to watch Game of Thrones without having to torrent it.  Being able to watch network shows, etc when traveling only adds to the appeal.  Yes, I could get HBO Go, Hulu, etc, but I'm an incredible tightwad.  I like free.

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
Having problems getting it onto an iPad2 running 7.0.4.  After the JB, I've get the apple logo looping ad nauseum.  Tried to JB (and subsequent loop/hang), and then restore, three times now, with no progress.  Waiting until they work out the bugs at this point.

The main reason I am still using my IOS6 jailbroken phone is that you can upload a new hosts file and get adblocking that way. I think that's the only real way to get systemwide ad removal on an iphone.

Jailbroke my iPad4 on 7.0.4 earlier today and seems to be surviving. While unlikely, it's possible Apple tries to push 7.1 through with a fix quickly and don't want to be caught out.

Will probably punch phone at some point now that Cydia is up to 1.1.9 although still need MobileSubstrate to be updated to have everything back to what it should be.

I honestly think the best strategy is to jailbreak but hold off on doing anything outside of updating Cydia/MobileSubstrate for a few days.

This, you know, is French for "stealing".

I don't mean to sound all patronizing, but torrenting television programs that you don't pay for hits me close to home as that's kind of how I feed my family.  Story for another thread, I know...

Understood.  Glad I was able to help feed your family for 20+ years of paying for it.  Can't justify paying every month just for Game of Thrones as I'm the only one who watches it and the rest of the programming goes unwatched by me.

Why not just get Hbo for the last month and watch them in demand then the last 4 episodes when they come on live?

But somehow you can justify stealing it. Interesting.

Even at $15/month that's like 4 hours of decent programming - a good value.

I do torrent some stuff but it's generally stuff that passes my (admittedly self-created) ethical barrier.
