There
I use the Kindle app on my iPad for books. Normally I buy books on Amazon.com (US) and those deliver directly to my iPad Kindle library. Recently however I bought two books on Amazon.co.jp (Japan store), and without really considering that it could be an issue, bought them for delivery to my Kindle. When on the US store it asks "Deliver to (Tokyo Sox's) Kindle?"; in this case I didn't notice whether or not it was listing my device by name - maybe not.

So of course they don't show up in my library as available for download. I'm hoping I just need to toggle between stores or regions, and if that's the issue, can someone explain how to do it please? And if that's not the issue, what do I need to do instead.

These are two Japanese language textbooks, only one of which is available on Amazon US so just buying them there instead isn't a solution.

Thank you.

What I would do is download the ebook from Amazon to your PC/Mac. Install Calibre and Alf's DRM Removal plugin. Import the downloaded .azw into Calibre. Then use Calibre's ability to email mobi to your kindle using the send to kindle via email feature. I think this guide explains how to do it.
https://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/calibre-plugins-the-simplest-option-for-removing-most-ebook-drm/

If you get stuck, let me know. It's been awhile since I've installed it but I do use the feature from time to time.

Switching accounts consists of deregistering the ipad within the app and re-registering it with the second account. To switch back, you repeat those steps.

If both accounts use the same email address, then set a different password for one of them. (There's apparently no other way to distinguish between the two accounts when logging in. Many people use different email addresses entirely.)

If you want to try it before buying an expensive textbook, you can purchase a free kindle book on the amazon.co.jp account.

(I don't have a kindle device, but this is what people do.)

This did the trick and wasn't too onerous to go back & forth. Thanks all for the input.
