My wife and I were married on this date in 1999.

This morning, I said "Happy Anniversary, it was eleven years ago that blah blah blah..."

She was not amused.

I got a very odd error message. Bad things, man.

Technically the 2004 comeback ended on October 21 - the clock ticked midnight at some point during the last at-bat, causing me to exclaim in the Connecticut Yankee that the Red Sox were going to win the pennant on my birthday. Sadly, Valerie did not give me her phone number as a present, and the only thing I went home with that night was Brohamer's Nick Swisher bobblehead.

Oh, and the vast majority of Game 6 of the 1975 World Series was played on October 21st as well.

The game started at 8:30 and lasted 3:31 which puts the end at 12:01, one whole minute into Oct. 21.

Ruben Sierra pinch hit for John Olerud so Alan Embree came in to replace Mike Timlin for the last out of the game, and that's why the game ended on my anniversary.

Gotta say, I still feel '78 and '86.  But yeah, '04.  Probably added 5 yrs back on to my life.

I still deny that 86 ever happened, but yeah, 78 (in the park, so harder to deny) and even 75 were pretty painful.

2004, 2007 and 2013 make up for 1967, 1972, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2003 many, many times over.  Those old enough to remember 1948 and 1949 I hope can add those years as well.  As much as three of the last four years have been painful, these are indeed salad days.  The near misses have been included here only, not the myriad of poor and mediocre seasons.  I look forward to the future.
