Terrible thread title, but I couldn't think of anything good and wanted to get this going.

There is so much to post about this guy, this story from a few days ago is pretty incredible ($).

"“I would consider myself as defensive-first player, honestly,” the reigning American League right field Gold Glove winner said. “Numbers-wise, I’m higher up there (on defense) than I am hitting. I can hit homers and whatnot, but I take pride in being able to change the game defensively. I’ve just never been associated as that kind of player so it makes me proud that I can be that kind of player.”

The numbers back him up. Entering Tuesday night’s game, Gallo led all right fielders in Outs Above Average, and it wasn’t particularly close."

I think he's gonna be a beast for NY. I'd imagine next year he will have a huge year entering his FA season. Is it pretty much assumed the Yankees are not going to hand him big bucks after next year due to Stanton and Cole?

So far away, new CBA before then, and Judge and Sanchez also FAs after 2022, so who knows.

Gallo leads all lefties in homers since 2017:

Joey Gallo: 138
Matt Olson: 130
Kyle Schwarber: 130
Cody Bellinger: 128
Bryce Harper: 127

How much does the short porch actually help him? I think of him as more of a 400'+ guy than someone squeaking by cheap shots.

Dude is gonna hit a million homers over that little league fence in right.

He'll strike out a ton too, but nobody seems to care about that anymore. Good add by New York.

I wonder if he can make some small adjustments and swing a little less hard but increase his contact a bit.

Easier said than done, I'm sure.

Is he going to play RF? Is he or Judge moving to CF or LF?

If Gallo, Stanton and Judge all start, is that the largest outfield ever? Good 750 pounds out there, basically a 4-3 linebacker corps.
The only comparison I've seen as far as teammates is Canseco/McGwire/Dave Parker.

You guys have Pesky's Pole, we now have Gallo's Pole.
Cashman, Cashman hold on the a little while
Think I see my friends coming
Riding a many mile
Friends did you get some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me my dear friends
To keep me from the Gallo’s pole?
What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallo’s pole?

The 1996 Red Sox outfield of Jose Canseco in LF, Troy O'Leary in CF and Kevin Mitchell in RF might have come close if you go by the actual weights at the time, rather than their listed weights. Canseco looked to be about 250 or 260, O'Leary around 200, and Mitchell maybe 230 or 240.

Still not as heavy as the NYY OF, but had to be near 700 lbs.

I hope the new Yankees outfield is just as good defensively as that crew.
