He’s 32, coming off injury and cranky about his contract. He wasn’t going to be part of the next contending Patriots team. Good move.

Great move to get a 3rd. He wasn’t in the plans and happy they moved on now.

I'm pretty surprised they managed to get a 3rd. I appreciate his time with the team but he wasn't part of the future so that is a great return if true.

That’s pretty good value for Judon at this point in his career. Not sure he has that much left in the tank after the injury.

Atlanta's third round pick Bralen Trice blew out his knee in their first preseason game in Miami. I'm not sure this happens without injury.

I like the player but tough for me to evaluate without seeing what he signs for.

I was expecting a 5th or a 4th if we were lucky. Desperation is a stinky cologne.

This could be a 3 win season. I know it doesn’t seem possible but they could be even worse this year. Buckle up!

How’s Atlanta this year? Is that 3rd closer to top half (2nd round) or bottom half (fourth)?

It’s hard to know but Judon addresses their biggest need: pass rush and in particular edge rusher. They are probably a middle of the pack team with a good ceiling if they can get quality QB play.

Also a pretty bad division; I could see them winning 6 or all the way up to 11 games. In contrast with the Patriots who I could see winning 1, 2 or 3 games.

Who’s going to not get us all the free agents now?

Joking aside, he didn’t have a future here and we don’t have much of one this year so a 3rd is a really solid return.

Goodbye my red sleeved boy… it hurts to see him go. If he plays the full season Atlanta made out slightly. That being said I doubt he plays a full 17 and I’ll gladly take their 3rd. No Barmore and no Judon is really making me question how good this defense can be. Oshane Ximines is going to get a ton of playing time.

I figured going into the year with Judon and Barmore and Gonzo they would be a top 10 defense. No Judon or Barmore and this could be just an average unit to pair with the offense which we know is very likely going to be poor. A middle of the pack defense + a bottom 3 offense + a rough schedule + a new coaching staff is definitely 1-4 win material. So frustrating.

Are we tanking for Cooper Flagg?

But a decent first round draft pick next year and a shot at a franchise tackle. SMU who would that be in your opinion?

Fixed that for you. They need help across the line come next season. Hopefully OK at RG with Owenu but the rest of the line will probably need to be upgraded.
It’s brutal that we can’t pencil strange in as a solid starter

He was by far the best UFA signing of the 2021 class by Bill. But an extension wasn’t going to happen here, so short term pain for longer term gain. It’s likely a don’t-care season anyway, so may as well stock up on the draft capital.

Judon has to be one of the best free agent signings in Pats history, even if it came during some lean years as a team.

A 1-4 win season will be very difficult to watch, but the most frustrating thing will be if they can't show any improvement over the course of the year (even if they keep losing). I think parting ways with Judon could force others to step up, likely won't move the needle on how bad this team is and, if it does, sets them up slightly better for 2025. It sucks to be in this position but I can't really fault the trade.

I loved Judon but he faded badly the last 4-6 weeks of the season when he was healthy for the Pats. I’ll happily take a top 90 pick.

I loved that he loved being here during a time when nobody was happy. But damn, I’ll take a 3d round pick all day for an older guy coming off an injury that wants a new contract.

His age/injury history/falling off the cliff to end the year made me think he was going to be traded for like a 6th rounder the day we needed to make the final roster.

Can't believe we got a 3rd. Could there been another team we used for leverage ?

Bears were in the mix too.

Edit: Texans as well
