Tonight was Kershaw’s first start ever with no K’s. Longest streak to start a career ends at 423 games.
Kopech meanwhile struck out 3 in his inning. Cease was a little off, for him. Pulled in the 6th after 3 hits and a run.
Padres romp 8-1 and the Dodger lead is down to 4 1/2 games.

Giants-A's was 1 hour and 55 minutes. Logan Webb threw a CGSHO.

This guy claims it's the fastest game at the Giants home in 19 years.

Yes, tied with 10/2/2005. The last time such a game was shorter was 5/9/2005.

There was a 1:54 game in Miami this May, and a 1:49 game in Boston in April. Looking for a shorter game than that, you're looking at 1:44 in Detroit on 6/2/2010. Then there's 1:39 at CHW on 4/16/2005, 1:33 in Toronto 9/28/82 (first game of a double-header), 1:29 in San Diego on 5/4/77, 1:26 in Houston on 8/24/74, 1:25 at the Boston Braves 9/14/52, 1:22 at the Sox 7/15/48, 1:20 at the Braves 9/7/47, 1:14 at the Braves 9/15/45, 1:10 at the White Sox 10/1/44, 1:05 in Cleveland 4/23/36, 0:55 (!) at the Browns 9/26/26 0:51 at the Giants 9/28/1919. That last one is the shortest in Baseball Reference's records.

These are all 9 inning games.

White Sox up to 17 L's in a row now. Passing the 2003 Tigers is very much in play.
Was a little surprised to see their longest losing streak was only 11 games. 2024 CWS have already surpassed that twice (14, May - June; 17, July).
I'd say it's expected. Granted, losing that much is hard to do… one good week against another slumping team can completely throw the trajectory off, but they've traded Fedde, Crochet's workload is getting limited and I'm not sure if Thorpe is going to run into usage issues or not... but when anyone outside of those three has been on the mound this year, their winning percentage has been almost identical to the 1899 Cleveland Spiders. They have one hitter on the entire active roster who isn't below average (by OPS+).
Looks like the first team with two 14 game losing streaks since the Braves lost 14 and 15 in 1935. The Braves also lost 14 and 16 in 1911. I can't find any other teams with multiple 14 game losing streaks in the same season.

51 minutes is crazy. The time between half innings must have been very short.

I'm not 100% sure we should trust that one. It was, however, game 1 of a double header on the last day of the season.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NY1/NY1191909281.shtml

The Giants beat the Phillies 6-1 (so no bottom of the 9th). It was actually rescheduled from the NEXT day. The Giants were locked into 2nd place in the NL (9 GB of the Reds), and the Phillies were confirmed in last place (47-90).

The Giants got 13 hits and 3 walks, the Phillies had 5 hits (plus reached on an error). Each of the 18 players who started the game finished it.

I am skeptical this was actually 51 minutes, but maybe someone could dig up an image of a newspaper from the next day or something.

Edit: This article backs up the 51 minutes: https://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=191909281NY1#:~:text=Giants and Phillies dropped the, score was 6 to 1.

Giants and Phillies dropped the curtain on the National League season at the Polo Grounds yesterday with the fastest game ever played in the major leagues. It required just fifty minutes for Jess Barnes and his mates to trim the Phillies in the first half of the double header. The score was 6 to 1.

...

Both Giants and Phils agreed to go after the speed record before the game started. That they shattered the mark and still made seven runs is remarkable. The men went up intent on smacking the first pitch. They did for the most part and this led to a hasty finish.
