CV’s whole body pulling out, swinging entirely off-balance with arms only on pitches right down the pipe. Fucking awful.

Consecutive at bats with the bases loaded don’t get any less competitive or pathetic than that.

Just a better team. This guy's slider ain't working...(Oh, and thanks JD for swinging at ball 4 twice) and he just blows away the two weak spots with fastballs.
I don't think there is a hitter on Tampa Bay that would swing and miss at those meatballs.

What’s sad about those Vaz and Dalbec at bats is that there were plenty of pitches in the middle of the strike zone

This team is pathetic with RISP lately. Way too many game changing inning squanders.

Those weren't meatballs, and that's a very good pitcher. Having said that, I would have liked to see some aggressive pinch hitting there.

In spite, not despite.
In spite of
and despite have a similar meaning to although or even though. They express a contrast between two things. They are both more common in writing than in speaking. Despite is a little more formal than in spite of.

We usually use in spite of and despite with a noun:

He got the job in spite of his prison record.
John’s company is doing extremely well despite the recession.
