Verlander is now 239–132 in his career, good for a .644 winning percentage. 51-18 since he turned 35. Perhaps the Tigers should have extended him, and not Cabrera.

Remarkably, his .644 winning percentage ranks only 5th among active pitchers- behind Kershaw (.691), Scherzer (.664), Cole (.656), Price (.654), and Strasburg (.646). Wainwright (.628) and Greinke (.617) not far behind.

This may be the last generation / group of great pitchers like this. Cole seems like a good bet to get to 200 wins, hard to see anyone after that.

Corey Kluber facing his old team today, but not much in the way of old teammates. The only player in today's lineup who was a teammate of Kluber's when he last pitched for Cleveland on May 1, 2019 is Jose Ramirez. He was technically a teammate of Franmil Reyes and today's starting pitcher Zach Plesac, but Kluber was already out rehabbing his broken elbow by the time either of those two joined the team.

The story of the night is a 97 MPH sinker to Jrods wrist. Interesting 24-36 hours for Mariners fans

Trevor Story says "hey, get a follow up MRI on that thing."

Hope he's alright, this year has sucked for injuries to some of the biggest stars.

Shane McClanahan had his worst outing of the season, charged with 5 earned runs in 4.1 innings… probably a little lucky that only half of the 10 base runners he allowed ended up scoring.

Alex Call, who's only in Cleveland because they'll be happy to DFA him when they add players later this week, had a hit and two walks against him. Franmil Reyes – the 423rd fastest man in baseball – had a delayed steal of 3rd base. I'm not sure if he was really clever or initially thought he was advancing on ball #4, but everyone fell asleep after the pitch.

Looking like the Dodgers are going to end today with the best record in baseball. Yankees have come out of the gate slowly since the break.

Soo.. Mariners...

Bottom of the 10th. They bring in a guy who's making his major league debut. Oh and it's the top of the lineup for the Astros.

They decide to IBB Altuve and pitch to Guriel. Guriel lines out but the Manfred Man tags up and goes to third. So there's runners on the corners.

Yordan is up next and somehow they get the groundball... but oops they are playing in and it gets through. Would have been an easy inning ending double play.
