That's far and away the most players a team has left behind on a trip to Toronto this season. Next closest is four players (Reds, Twins, and Phillies).

Passan said that 25 players total have been excluded from going to Toronto so far this season due to their vaccination status, and the Royals come in and single-handily raise that number to 35.

There's been talk about both Benintendi and Taylor possibly being traded to the Yankees, but I never realized neither is vaxed. Kind of an issue. Maybe coming to a team that's playing well and 100% vaxed would put on enough pressure for them to do it?

Seattle and Baltimore are red hot and winning again and Toronto is going to continue to clean up on the Covid Phillies & Royals the next few days. Wild Card race is getting crazy heading into the break.

Maybe we should sell Diekman and other crap that can be disguised into value into the sellers market?

26 Ks in less than six innings in Anaheim. All time record for 9 innings appears to be 35, which was set with pitchers batting.

Probably won’t get there because the Angels are winning and so will likely not need their last at bat. Javier got the first 8 outs by K and left with 94 pitches after getting 10 Ks in 11 outs.

Now at 27. Still in the sixth.

Angels have made 17 outs, 15 by K. They have 7 runs. They have put 14 balls in play. 12 hits and two outs.

Whit, Hunter, Brady, Kyle, Dylan, and Cam among those not making the trip. Sales forecasts for cargo shorts and Puka shell necklaces expected to boom in Kansas City this weekend.

Chavis catching it while doing nearly a full-split was just as impressive.

KC's Covid reinforcements / mlbtr

The Royals announced Thursday that they’ve recalled top first base prospect Nick Pratto from Triple-A Omaha as one of eight players joining the Major League roster. Also coming to the Majors are catcher Sebastian Rivero, infielder Maikel Garciaand lefty Angel Zerpa, who’ve been recalled from Double-A Arkansas. Additionally, the Royals selected the contracts of infielder/outfielder Nate Eaton, catcher Freddy Fermin, outfielder Brewer Hicklen and infielder Michael Massey from Omaha.
As MLB.com’s Anne Rogers tweets, the roster spots of starting pitchers placed on the restricted list (i.e. Singer, Keller) cannot be filled until four days after they last pitched, per MLB rules, which explains the discrepancy between eight players being added versus the ten who went on the restricted list.

Dr. Sticks was dealing tonight... McKenzie with 8 shutout innings, 5 singles, 0 walks, 12 K's vs. Detroit. He's up to 21 innings now since he last allowed a run.

What are the Tigers trying to accomplish with Spencer Torkleson? I could see if he had gotten off to a terrible start but was showing improvement. However, he's been consistently awful all year and is currently batting .199/.285/.299. Maybe it's (way past) time to send him to AAA, let him clear his head, and work on a few things... especially since they rushed him through the minors in the first place.

Something’s wrong with Josh Hader. Unhittable all year then just getting bombed lately.

He came off the paternity list on 6/20. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? He got absolutely shelled last night. 6 runs, 3 homers including a walk-off grand slam by Mike Yaz in 1/3 of an inning. Yikes.

2 days before that, he allowed 3 runs and a homer without recording an out. 9 runs and 4 homers in 1/3 of an inning over 2 appearances. This board would be melting down if this happened with a Sox ace closer.

Lance Lynn looks completely cooked, ERA up to 7.79 now. When a guy who mostly throws FBs has a big velocity drop, it can get ugly and it has for him.

Jose Ramirez is practicing for the home run derby against Michael Pineda today... 2 home runs in 2 innings.

Both times he let the Manfred Man score. The Mets got an additional run in the second game when after Givens was taken out, Daniel Norris comes in and airmails (badly) a pickoff attempt at second, allowing Lindor who was on third to score.

Of all these players KC had to call up for their series in Toronto... assume that caused the service time clock to start for at least a few? Eventually, that could cost the team many millions, right?

Four days of service time isn't going to cost anybody anything.

From the @umpirescorecard twitter. That pitch barely fit on the tweet. That pitch pairs well with the green circle, called a ball, in pretty much the middle of the zone.
