The Pittsburgh Penguins have named Mark Recchi player development coach, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Recchi, 46, will be responsible for working with and assisting in the development of young prospects and players throughout the Penguins organization in the minor leagues as well as in junior and college hockey.

Are we just going to assume that Seguin has the same level of success in Boston that he had in Dallas this year? Dallas and Boston play completely different styles, which was the big problem to begin with. The off the ice stuff didn't help, but if Seguin had made more of an effort to play the style Clode wanted, he never would have been traded. The trade made sense for both teams, and it still does. Seguin was not a fit here.

 
 
Given player after player who has swapped back and forth between the teams in recent years,  I assume a minimum 25% drop in offense when switching from Dallas to Boston,  maybe more

The Habs have locked up Lars Eller for the next four years, avoiding arbitration. They're buying 2 years of RFA and 2 of UFA, giving him 2.5, 2.5, 4.5, 4.5 for an average of 3.5 million/year. If he's the same guy or close that he was in the playoffs this year; this is a great move for them. If he's the same Lars Eller we saw in the regular season, Bruins fans rejoice, because in 2 years the Canadiens will be paying $4.5 million for a third line center who scores 26 points (but to be fair, does a lot of checking).
