Why buy out Seids? Isn't he an important unprotected asset for the expansion draft?
He is going to be an expensive 5/6 d man but I think you bite the bullet for this season.
I agree, I'd bite the bullet for this season on Seids. Also, please Sweeney, no Kris Russell @ $5m per season.

It's a valid point, but a few reasons for me - assuming all efforts to trade him are exhausted and no team bites:
  1. In my opinion, he's unplayably bad. He will make this team actively worse if he plays, to the point that I'd be willing to have the B's self-impose a $1.17m cap hit to be rid of him. The $2.17m in 2017-18 hurts, but $1.17m in each of 2018-19 and 2019-20 makes it bearable.
  2. There is no guarantee that he will be offloaded in the Expansion Draft - if he isn't, you're still stuck with a $2m cap hit in 2017-18 and $1m in 2018-19 if he's bought out next summer
  3. He is so, so bad

Benning fined $50K for the Subban comments.

Elsewhere, Looch is visiting Edmonton today. It appears Chiarelli's plan would be to sign Lucic and then deal off Hall for a #1 D. It sounds good in theory, but aside from Subban, what #1 D is available?

Larceny by CBJ on that deal for Seth Jones. It should help us though with Krug.

Twitter's freaking out but I've never really gotten the infatuation with Taylor Hall.

He has no 30 goal seasons, and up until this year, he's been notorious unhealthy, and even with this year's full 82, he only averages 67 games/season.

Maybe getting out of Edmonton juices him up but I'll have to see it.

I've never been one for Hall at all but it is a bit fascinating that Chia has traded both the 1 & 2 picks from the same draft.

I said second best, Ovechkin is clearly the best LW. I forgot Benn. So Hall is maybe the 3rd best. He is still really good.

Chiarelli got hosed. I would've maybe traded Hall for Larsson a first and top prospect.
Yeah I don't get it.

Did NJ turn down Eberle? Did they turn down RNH? I happily move both of those guys way before I move Hall

If I were Sweeney I'd call Nashville up and offer Pastrnak, Krug, 2 1sts and whatever else they want to flip Subban to the Bruins.

Good contract for TB on Stamkos. Highway robbery by NJ on Chiarelli. Hall is a lot more valuable. Not sure what the hell he is thinking. Are good defenseman that en vogue?

Don't be an asshole. How is that remotely similar to what I proposed?
Oh I was just being smart about trading a past his prime Weber for a younger, better, better-contract player was all and doing something similar for Boston. Wasn't anything against your trade proposal or anything.

Maybe some of the things the B's did to destroy their team were Chiarelli's idea and not Benning's or Neely's. Who knows, I guess.
