I subscribed to Showtime to watch the Julian Edelman documentary, and haven’t really watched it since. I’m looking forward to this one.

Seattle
Not sure if this requires a spoiler, but just in case:
Kendrick Perkins: "Can we curse on this?"
Interviewer: "Go right ahead Perk."
KP: "We were the worst fucking team in the league!"

That got a chuckle out of me.

where I was last at
Scal's narration, with footnotes by several other notables, of Big Baby V KG mano a mano arm wrestling dick swinging contest was hilarious.

And the punchline was pure KG.

Putting a link to The Athletic oral history of KG coming to the Celtics here. If you have a sub and are a C's fan, its a must-read imo.

Bradley: You know the story of Doc making him sit out at one practice. And so, he was upset Doc made him sit out.

Leon Powe, Celtics teammate: KG looks shocked and said, “Aight, Doc, I’m just gonna go over here to the sideline.” So we start practicing, doing drills, and start to transition to 5-on-5. We all start to notice a shadow going up and down the court. So I look over there as I’m running and see KG on the sideline, trying to beat everybody down the court.

He did this for 35-40 minutes straight. When we did our defensive drill, he’s doing defensive slides all the way down and back, talking to himself, beating his chest in a full sweat. He’s talking to himself like, “C’mon KG, you can beat him!” Doc notices and says, “KG, what are you doing?! What are you doing?! Everybody get in the middle! KG bring it in.”

Eastman: Kevin ended up saying to Doc, you can’t kick Kevin Garnett out of a drill. If you want to kick him out of a drill, you got to kick him out of the gym.

Powe: KG was in a full sweat, like he played a million games. Doc looks at him and says, “It’s your day off, man. What are you doing?” KG said, “I know. I am taking a day off.” Doc called practice and kicked everybody out the gym.

Zarren: I’ve never seen anyone do that before or since. Kevin didn’t stop moving, ever.

Bradley: He’s crazy, man.

Agree this is a fantastic read. I could read a whole book that's nothing but people talking about KG. Jay King has really been doing some great work over there.
King and Weiss do great work imo. And KG is such a fascinating subject. It says something about a person when they are both very demanding of others in their midst and widely admired/loved by those same people.

As a side note, I love that the baby Cs are in a sort of ascension right now. There are a lot of virtuous tailwinds lining up for this team as they ready for the playoffs. Having KG, Pierce and all the other players from that team seems like it can only help.

That said, I don't think Garnett's leadership style would play as well in today's NBA.

I'll be in the house tomorrow night for KG's retirement with my 14 year old son. He missed most of KG's career, but he's had an autographed photo of both of the Big 3's on his wall (just below the autographed photo of Red), since he was born, and he loves the C's. I know a bunch of other folks going to, should be an awesome time. I'll try to get some good pics, but someone from here will probably need to get them from my FB page, because I'm incapable of getting photos from my phone to SoSH.

I will be there as well, but will be so far in the rafters my camera will be useless. :)

I thought the ceremony was well done and KG seemed to really appreciate the gravity of the moment. I would expect nothing less.

I was lucky enough to be offered courtside seats to yesterday’s game and snapped some pics.
Based on those pictures, you were sitting right in front us. We were in row 9 of Loge 10, right at around midcourt. We definitely could have car pooled. LOL at Cindy's message last night, I didn't know how to respond to that. :)

Ha yeah I mean at this point it is what it is. I don't even flinch anymore when saying I met some of the folks here via an internet message board about the Red Sox. I am sure it would be foreign to Cindy though haha.

Also, Antoine was enormous. 8 needs to get on a diet for sure. Pierce is getting chunky too. My favorite had to be Eddie House showing up in grey sweat pants though. Just 0 f's given on looking sharp or dressing up at all.

Can anybody find the video of KG's 2008 G5 postgame interview? The Cs lost and Gasol had a pretty good game. KG was respectful and classy but you could feel the anger coming through the set. A buddy of mine, a coach and a huge Laker fan phoned me, and said, "Congrats on the Celtics title" after watching the interview.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting that KG was a seven-footer who insisted on being listed as 6’11” – Walton did the same thing.
