So how long will this show last? I'm gussing before they say something racist about Obama.
Huh? Are you saying it is going to be canceled before they say something stupid or after?

edit: NESN knew exactly what they were getting involved in before they put them on the air, it's not like their discussion of politics or past comments are unknown. The only way they are getting taken off is if the ratings are actually worse than expected.

Random question:

I wasn't around on Friday...but I know that D&C were off. Did anybody happen to watch NESN, and see if the guest-hosts were on TV? Because I know that every simulcast does it differently (when Francesa is off, the show isn't on TV. When "Mike and Mike" are off, the show is still on TV, etc).

Out of the same curiousity, I did check NESN on Friday, and they did simulcast when Neumy and Kerry Byrne filled in.

I've heard Ordway mock Neumy when he's on the Big Show about having reams of notes spread out in front of him for reference purposes, but I thought it was an exaggeration. But Neumy indeed was surrounded by paper...it didn't seem to help him sound any less scatter-brained than usual, though.

Good news...I'm counting down the days until LARRRRY JOHNSON is filling in on one July mornin'. Oh the anticipation...

I'm about ready to jump through the fuckin' radio and beat the shit out of the forehead. The dumb cocksucker has been on a crusade about helmet-to-helmet hits and dirty play all NFL season long. However, it's okay if said hits are against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger. Callahan, the asshole, says this morning that he has no problem with Ngata's cheap shot on Roethlisberger. What a fuckin' asshole.

Bob Halloran filling in today, and with all due respect to Larry Johnson and Butch Stearns, I feel quite comfortable saying he is by far the worst guest host WEEI digs up for these gigs. I'm not sure the guy even watches sports anymore.

My favorite Halloran moment was two years ago when Varitek was in Free Agency and Halloran stated that any team should be willing to give up a 1st round pick to sign Varitek because, as Halloran put it, "who cares about some High School player from Podunk Iowa." This morning, in the 3 minutes I could tolerate, I got to hear Halloran jump on Bob Ryan for thinking Buffalo might play the Patriots tough this weekend. He went on to say that if the Patriots don't blow out the Bills this Sunday, then we all need to re-evaluate their chances in the playoffs. He sounded surprised to hear Buffalo has won 4 out of 5.

Halloran is truly the bottom of the barrel. One of the only people that will cause me to immediately to close the stream.

One thing I've noticed: It's amazing now much more enjoyable the Dennis and Callahan show is without Dennis and Callahan. Too bad they will eventually return from vacation... :)

Agree wholeheartedly. I've watched every morning since they left and will stop as soon as they return.

Listening to Bob Ryan talk about the Celtics the past few mornings has been awesome. He can speak more intelligently about basketball than every other regular host at EEI combined.

I would love to hear Bob Ryan and Bobby Knight in a ninety minute interview. Seriously.
Have you listened to Bob Knight do games on ESPN? Its excruciating. Not sure if he just doesn't give a fuck, but he literally has trouble following the action at the end of games and for some reason comes across as a fairly unintelligent guy. Its totally fucked up.

I must be holding them to too high of a standard to think they should know better than to ask doc if they would consider doing something unconventional like trying to talk james posey out of retirement when he's not retired, making $7m for next year, and sucks

You have to admit that would be an unconventional move, though.

So is it just me or does it seem like the camera angles and the way Dennis sits are designed to try and hide how big he has become?

Adams and Halloran worst combo in the morning I've heard on EEI in a while. Turned it off after 2 minutes of Adams 'zany' act. Limited options out in western mass at least get WFAN in the car.

You gave it 1 minute 50 seconds longer than I did. As soon as I heard Adams voice I reached for the radio and as I was touching the dial I heard Halloran and was glad I was already changing the channel.

How does Halloran still have job(s) in this market? Example one that there is no 'meritocracy' in the private sector.

did they really need to bring Mike Adams in this morning?
did they really need to spend the first two hours of the show casting aspersions at BMW and talking about the shooting like he was guilty before getting any more info or facts? No but they're D&C. Funny...though I thought Dale was allegedly above such nonsense.

Maybe we listened to different shows, but during the segment I heard from 7:30-8 Callahan was pretty firmly on BM's side and the only thing that made Dale think BM might be involved is that the ambulance chaser was actually quoted (which was pretty moronic coming from Dale).

Wow I guess so! You must have missed all the times Callahan said this a pattern of BMW's and how the only one who did anything right was they guy who showed up to beat up BMW's friend, etc. etc.

was there a crossover at all this week? how did D&C close the show this week?

Heard the crossover to Mut on Wednesday, it was quick but Dale did it no issues.
Adams no idea what he was thinking cracking jokes while callahan and dale were taking it seriously as they watched it and conveyed the magnitude of it. They didn't seem to crack up to it from what I heard.

Keep it going, I could go for this format all the time. Actually makes me flip back and forth between stations instead of sticking to 98.5

On D&H, I had definitely gotten tired of Dale as he was always straddling both opinions. However, on D&C, I much prefer Dale to John Dennis. When words come out of John Dennis' mouth the way they do, with an air of arrogance, condescension and self-righteousness, you can tell he believes he's entitled to these remarks, and it's his obligation to set the Boston listening public straight. Dale has been a very welcome breath of fresh air in the morning the last week and today. Part of me wishes WEEI was doing it to give Dale a tryout at that hour with an eye toward giving 'Dino' his long-overdue walking papers. Sure, Dennis & Callahan, the brand, is why WEEI wouldn't. Maybe NESN could give them a nudge in the right direction considering Dale is streets ahead on camera.

As I and many others have said before, John Dennis is the real problem with D&C. He's recognized that his job is far easier when Callahan gets going on a right-wing rant, so he sets the show up to be "guy talk" (aka angry white men middle-aged talk), and all he needs to do is segue into breaks (as well as ask 18,000 part questions to guests).

When Callahan is put with ANYBODY else, his political views are reigned in and the show is far more sports oriented. Which leads me to be believe that it's Dennis, not Callahan, that pushes the show in a political direction.

Yeah, except when Callahan is responding on twitter
@nd508 go away you little insignificant man. Ur jealousy is such a pathetic emotion. Check Ur 1040 and count Ur PENNIES.
. I doubt he'd stay a class act for long with a different co-host.

I will never listen to WEEI in the morning while either of these two are on.

I don't listen, but from the radio blogs/sites I read, it's Dennis who makes Baby TwitterJesus cry, not Callahan.

I guess in my mind, I've combined the two into one horrible being. I checked, Phenom's point is strengthened and I am an idiot on this one. Likely other things too.

Not much worse than listening to Gerry Callahan assume a blue collar persona or opine about geopolitics.

EDIT - He went from bitching about the state politicians who 'have never done an honest day's work in their lives' to bitching about how he had to change the channel a lot during the basketball games.

Never really got to experience these guys (I'm an out of towner) until they gave me NESN. And they're pretty much as advertised...but what exactly is Jerry's issue with Rondo and BB?
