They are driving me crazy with their babbling about how much they love Sarah Palin and how hot she is. It sounds like two little hgih school boys talking about the hot popular girl at school. Plus Callahan drives me absolutely crazy with his non-stop conservative politcal bantering. I really hate that man, the only thing he has ever done or said that I felt good about was his story about his fight with cancer, because I would never wish that on anyone

John Dennis is obsessed with the theory that Matt Cassel would be better if he had received more garbage time last year. Between that and asking Boomer Esiason to speculate on the levels of regret each individual Pat is feeling over Brady's injury, it hasn't been a great morning from him.

FWIW the Boomer interview was frickin awesome. He would own this town if he got on the air here.

My time slot on this dark, dreadful morning-after was before Boomer came on, and this is what I had to endure:

Dennis and Callahan rehashing a tired (and totally false) old story about Obama being a Muslim. And Meter-whatever-his-name-is pontificating over Jake Delhomme. Don't these idiots realize that there's a pennant race going on?

I just wanted a brief summary.
Just listened to it now-- wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement of Matt. Pete essentially said that Leinart won the starting job through a battle of attrition (neither were very good during spring practices) and that Cassel had a career day on his workout day with all the scouts in attendance.

It wasn't as harsh as John Clayton on ESPN radio in Chicago this afternoon. To summarize:

Q: What can you tell me about Matt Cassel?
A: He's not very good... he hasn't been good enough to be a starter since high school... he didn't look good in pre-season
(no mention of the people that he has backed up since high school... didn't mention that he spent most of his pre-season throwing to Chad Jackson and CJ Jones, and handing off to BenJarvus Green Ellis Watson Stallworth)

Unfortunately, i tuned in this morning, hoping to hear about the tremendous game from last night, instead in 30 seconds i got this...

"I understand that many players and agents are greedy, but i don't know them away from the game. But I do know this. Manny Ramirez is a "substandard human-being". Wow. I changed it right after that.

As i pulled into work, i gave it another shot...

I hear about how the economic crisis in our country today is a result of all THE deadbeats who can't pay their morgages and people like Barney Frank, who, in an effort to celebrate and create diversity forced banks to give loans to poor people.

So Lehman's, Fannie mae and freddie mac's failures are a result of blacks. sweet g-sus!

I can't remember the last time Callahan has pissed me off so much that I continued to listen because I knew Dennis and the callers were going to take him to task.

Nice to see Dennis not taking his shit today.

edit: For those not listening, he is calling everyone that is behind in their bills, especially their mortgage, deadbeats for not planning for all contingencies. Including the Lehmen type guys that had nothing to do with this mess that got laid off out of the blue, "THEY SHOULD HAVE PLANNED FOR THIS!!!"

edit 2: Nice, even Schilling is taking Callahan to task for his deadbeat comments.

When bleeding hearts like John Dennis and Curt Schilling are asking you to reign in the fascism, something is definitely wrong.

I heard this before I walked into work this morning. He was saying that the guy at Lehmen should have seen the economy begin to tank ("There are ebbs and flows in the economy, John!") and that if the guy was making $150K, he shouldn't have bought a nice house because things can happen. The guy on the phone was like, "How can you plan for something like this?" and Gerry's response was, "You just do." For a guy who rips on Obama for being an elitist, Callahan isn't exactly sounding like a salt of the earth type of guy.

This is further evidence that Callahan is a child. For a problem this large and this complex, there is only one group that gets the blame: the "deadbeats". That's it. There is no blaming anyone else, not the President, not the Congress or Senate, not the financial institutions, not the world-wide market, nothing. Just the deadbeats. I am convinced that any time they read a story on Headlines about a raping, Gerry is thinking to himself that the chick asked for it.

Maybe Death is correct and radio Callahan is just a character. I don't know, but it's pretty despicable shit regardless.

Did anybody hear the Manny song coming back from break a little after 8:30 this morning? The lyrics seemed like something Callahan would be repulsed by, but I guess it's okay since it was taking shots at Manny's character.

Had to go to work really early this morning and got to listen to the Angry White Golfers for a bit. They seemed sort of happy about the win, though Gerry thinks that the Angels suck, so it wasn't a big deal. They talked about that for about .43 seconds when everyone's favorite subject came up, Manny Ramirez. They talked about that for a long time ... not sure exactly how long because I left my car for about a half hour and when I got back in they were still talking about him.

He's an asshole, you know.

I like that title better.

His insistence that Teixeira was the only player who performed fell flat with me. I agreed that the Angels defense helped "give" the Sox the series and several bats (Aybar, Kendrick, Rivera) were MIA, but the heart of the order was hitting. It lacked power, but they Sox pitching didn't silence them like the Cards in '04.

This morning was a great example of why their viewpoint doesn't tend to evolve past a negative one. The series featured two good teams who played 4 tough games despite each having issues to deal with. There was a lot of strategy or individual plays to breakdown, but the conversation didn't tend to go past who did or didn't suck.

Listening to Callahan scream about politics is one thing, listening to Angry Bill rant about Obama is just ridiculous.

I changed the channel about 30 seconds in and never went back. Timed it well with Opie and Anthony and got to listen to them discuss the debate (wasn't that bad actually).

O+A are by far the best terrestrial radio morning option out there for the Boston area. Not even close. Granted, there isn't much sports talk, but they're funny and often insightful and serious when necessary.

What did he say?

BTW, having Angry Bill as a celebrity caller is akin to having Heather Locklear as your celebrity designated driver. You can do better.

Schilling was ripping them for insisting that Lester start game six instead of Beckett. They were so sure of themselves in their usual arrogant manner, he practically blew up at them he was so pissed.

Anyone know what they said about their favorite, "Nancy" Drew?

A friend of mine sent me this this morning - he listens all the time, and I don't, so I can't back this up, but it sounds like the kind of reaction we could expect:

Meanwhile, I stick up for Dennis and Callahan alot, but they were absolutely classless this morning. Instead, of focusing on what an amazing achievement last night's game was, they decide to spend the ENTIRE morning blasting JD FUCKING Drew for "purposely taking time off" in August and September, showing up "only when he wants too" and agreeing with idiot callers who say that he just shows up for the pay check, and wasn't that excited about last night's win during the post-interviews blah blah blah.
I guess they went on to rip Francona for going with Beckett in Game Six, because he's setting Beckett up to fail, whatever that means. Beckett's gotta win a game either way, last I checked.

They didn't bash Drew, but as folks called trying to call them out for ripping Drew all year, they responded smarmily were we lying about him quitting in September? They would not give up on the Beckett/Lester thing. they think JL should start gm 6. Callahan asked at one point who do you think the players want starting? It was just typical D&C nothing unusual unless new listener was expecting all sunshine.

They actually defended Drew against the one caller I heard. Some loser was bitching about Drew seeming like he didn't care during his postgame on-field interview, and both D&C said it was clear that Drew was wired that way and would you rather have him amped up and quivering during both of his two huge at-bats last night? They pointed out that his demeanor works for him, and they were fine with that.

I find this idea rather funny. I thought Craig Sager's post-game interview was at least as entertaining as the game, due to JD's low-key demeanor.

"Yeah, we won the game. Whatever. Either way, I'm gonna go have a brew in the clubhouse."

Just Awesome.

Heard Callahan in the first segment of the show say he hopes Manny has lost millions in the stock market over the past month. This is what would make Callahan happy on this day. Manny losing millions in the stock market.

I tuned in at least 10 times through the week and content was broken into three areas:

1. sports flash
2. commercial
3. political yammering

Kept wandering back looking for sports talk, but got nothing sports related. I'm listening between 8 and 9 so maybe that's the "political" hour or something? It is too much to ask the local all-sports station cover sports as part of programming?

Wow, talk about some horrible radio right now.

Christ, a guy is on right now saying how he doesn't like either choice, and Callahan is talking like the guy just insulted his mother.

I wish I got more channels on my radio in my office. Surprisingly I only get 100.3 and WEEI.

I agree-but if that's what I wanted to hear I wouldn't be tuning into a sports talk radio station for it.

ESPN radio is online as well. What did you think they were going to talk about today the Bruins?

Honestly, this is a big day and I expect nothing lesss from anyone today other than politics.

I am off today, so therefore I have no commute to listen... I love it.

They must be having coronaries knowing that Obama's going to win.

I've never, ever, ever heard two people so unwilling to even see another candidate's point of view. They shit on and trash everything everyone has to say that is democratic in theory. Every time someone calls in to counter their points, they shit all over htem.

They exaggerate truths, they hide their own candidate's faults... its unbearable.

If Obama wins, are we going to have to listen to them bitch for the next 4 years?

as much as i hated today's show and most of their stuff lately due to them discussing politics so much (and being so clearly one sided about it), it'll definitly make tomorrow's show enjoyable if obama (hopefully) wins.
