Arsenal fielding what might be their strongest 11. Liverpool missing Skrtel. Sturridge and Welbeck both miss the start for their respective teams due to recent injuries despite full practices yesterday apparently.

Arsenal playing a 4-2-3-1 which is fairly normal, but I don't remember the last time that Ramsey played wide. Cazorla and Coq are the double pivot and Ozil is the #10

Seems like Rodgers has game planned in part around Mertesacker's lack of pace. Arsenal a bit dodgy at the back.

Better spell of play for Liverpool. I'm not quite as surprised as Ian Darke that they or (The Gunners) haven't scored yet. Liverpool might rue these missed chances and half chances. A little more quality and they might have nicked a goal. Rogers would bite your hand off for a point this afternoon.

Edit: Bugger. Nice finish. Liverpool are rueing.

The scoreline is very harsh on Liverpool but those were three fantastic finishes by Arsenal.

Bellerin made a few boneheaded plays one might expect of a 19-year-old in a big game but the composure and finish was pretty exceptional, especially for a fullback.  Give it 2-3 more years and expect Barcelona to come knocking on the door.

Man I hate Barca and Real. Henry and Cesc losses were hard to take. But Arsenal's financial strength has improved significantly, just probably not quite enough to ward off the Spanish sharks.

Dude, you're insane. Even if Arsenal were purchased tomorrow by the world's richest, most-spendiest owner in history, Arsenal wouldn't have a shot in hell of keeping a player who - his whole life - has seen Real Madrid as the top of Everest. You can't put a chairlift on Mt. McKinley - as impressive, awesome and accomplished as it is - and expect to replace Everest as the apple of a mountain climber's eye.

RM comes calling for anyone and they are going. Because the vast majority of players don't give a shit about laundry.

Dude's from Barcelona, he's not seeing Madrid as the top of the mountain.

All true.  Plus the even larger issue with Bellerin is that he's a Catalan who spent most of his soccer playing life in La Masia.  Like Cesc, if they want him, he'll go back.

'arry in the studio,  free lunching for Bt Sports, said of the teams outside the top four, "they'll be scrapping it out to see who gets to avoid the Europa League." He's still funny.

Nevermind the misinformation you've provided (Bellerin's dream club is probably Barca, NOT Real, given that he's from the area, joined their youth ranks at age 8, and spent the next 8 years of his life there), are you really that bothered that I rank Arsenal as "probably not [financially strong] enough to ward off the Spanish sharks" instead of "[no] shot in hell"?

Get off your high horse.  Everyone here knows that Barca and Real play in a different league.  My post was lamenting that very fact.  And that reality sucks as a fan of just about every other team in the world.  United lost Ronaldo, Liverpool lost Suarez, Tottenham lost Bale, hell even Bayern Munich lost Kroos after his impressive World Cup run.

Awesome game for the Gunners, gutting loss for Liverpool.  Here's to hoping they can recover and knock United off for the last CL spot.  Today, we are all Villans.

I don't think Arsenal played that well, but the finishing today was about as good as I've seen this year. Liverpool's defense looked horrendous without the impetuous Skrtel.

Arsenal are flying right now. 15 of 17 I believe. It's pretty great.

Allardyce might be in legit trouble.
I still don't think so, but 3 points from palace, Sunderland, Leicester is terrible.

I apologize for using RM instead of Barcelona but that minor error in no way invalidates the point.

Further, I apologize for assuming you wanted discussion and not validation of your lamentation. Desperation is a stinky cologne.

The fact is that there is a hierarchy and your OP seemed to be either ignorant of that or was another example of "laundry worshipping".

Thanks for setting me straight. If it isn't Arsenal red, it's crap or unfair. Me and the horse will see ourselves out. :)

Oh come on. My OP said that the change in Arsenal's financial strength from 2006-8 to 2015 is "probably' negligible in relation to keeping Bellerin long-term.  I write “probably X”, you respond “Dude, you’re insane. Definitely X.”

Part of being a fan of almost any world football team is dealing with the layer cake cycle of shit taking. This idea that I am “ignorant” of the limitless power of Real Madrid and Barcelona is laughable. (Note that the linked post is less than two weeks old, and in response to one of your posts.)

Your whole tirade boils down to the fact that I used the word “probably” in a game thread context after the player in question just scored a brilliant goal to change the tenor of the game.  Of course I don't want Arsenal to lose him, but of course they probably will.

Not much of a spectacle but i think it's a good point for them.  Burnley have Arsenal next, but their last five games are all winable. They still have to play Leicester, Hull and Villa.
