Let's Talk About MLBTV

Thank you for the T-Mobile heads up! I need to put that on my calendar so I don't miss it.
T-Mobile has been offering it for a while. This year it will be offered on T-Mobile Tuesday (and you have so many days to activate it). If you have already signed up for mlb.tv through T-Mobile, then you have to cancel by March 22nd and resubscribe. You can watch from your phone, tablet, or other connected devices (I'm assuming that if your phone and tv support casting, you can watch via the tv). However, "hometown" blackouts apply. You can also use multi-view to see up to four games on one screen at the same time. Or, listen to the radio broadcast from either team.

Why pay for it when you can steal it? Good call.
Only problem being, I for one, enjoy the commercial-less pirated versions over the mlb.tv commercials playing at 350% volume. It requires constantly messing with the volume throughout the game. Any way to fix this while on a laptop?

The automatic annual billing is going to be any day now. Anyone know how disable this on an active card? I'd rather not call customer service and spend an hour on the phone. The video quality has come a long way in the past 5 years. Perhaps I'll wait for the fathers day sale to re-up

To disable renewal, just log into your mlb.com account and uncheck the automatic renewal option. I think it was under subscriptions. I have to don't his each year because I typically wait until the Father's Day special to purchase the package.

(I'd be surprised if the renewal hadn't tried to hit your card already. The renewal date is typically around 2/28.)

I'll repeat a complaint I had last year about blackouts: How the hell is Cincinnati considered in-market for North Carolina? I've literally never met a Reds fan here. Previously we were blacked out of Atlanta, Washington and Baltimore games which kind of makes sense considering there are no MLB clubs here or in adjoining states, but to be blacked out of Reds games when Cincinnati is over 7 hours away is pretty ridiculous.

Heads up all: I cancelled my 'paid' sub which was scheduled to expire February 28th so I wouldn't have to do the dance with T-Mobile to credit my account whenever T-Mobile offered the free sub.

Well the first time I tried to watch a "free" Spring Training game after 2/28, MLB.TV asked me for money. I had to pay $24.95 to watch a "free" Spring Training game. I charged it to my T-Mobile account.

I'll get it figured out between T-Mobile and MLB.TV but be aware.

What do you have to do to cancel your paid subscription? I had the At Bat app on my T-Mobile phone phone and could watch spring training games when they were televised but then I thought I needed to upgrade the app. Since then, I cannot watch tv on it and when I went to my account on MLB.com, there was no listing of a paid account.

I had the same issue today. Couldn’t watch the game until I renewed my subscription (not with T-Mobile).

I think MLB is having its usual 'new season' pains. I canceled the old paid sub at MLB.com. I understood Spring Training games could be streamed at no charge. My paid annual sub ended 2/28. I had to pay a month fee ($24.95) to watch a game on 3/1.

Today I checked MLB.com to make sure the $24.95 was not going to auto-renew and it doesn't even show on my account. Only the canceled annual sub shows.

I sent a note to them requesting they credit my account, requesting they make certain whether they credit my account or not, it does not auto-renew. I also requested clarification regarding free streaming of Spring Training games being free and how to do it if you don't have an active sub.

Basically I'll be paying $24.95 for the handful of televised Red Sox games between 3/1 and 3/26 when the T-Mobile free sub will be available. It's ridiculous. I fully expect them to refund the $24.95 and had that expectation even as I paid it. I'll be really unhappy if they don't.

I'll keep you all posted.

So, tonight I tried to hook up the HDMI adapter to my phone and broadcast from my phone to the TV (which, like someone above is no longer compatible with the app). I got an error message that said, “Recording MLB.TV is not allowed.” I wasn’t recording. This set up worked all last year. What did the money grabbers change to wreck it this year? Did MLB and Samsung conspire to force me to upgrade the TV? Did Apple and MLB conspire to force me to purchase one of the apps that mirrors your phone to the TV?

Excellent. I have a Fire stick. Thanks.
Just got a response. They e disabled the ability to plug your phone into a T.V with a HDMI adapter. The response was from a no reply account, I guess they don’t want to answer the question of why they’d screw over customers by doing that.

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
Bumped, the free T-Mobile thing starts tomorrow.
Offer doesn't show up in the app on iOS devices, you have to log into the TMo website to get the offer.

Subs are selling for $5 on SlickDeals in the main thread in the Hot Deals forum.

You have to Claim the deal today, you then have six days to Redeem it.

T-Mobile's site is not working for me, I get an error message: "Sorry, but we are currently experiencing problems with our server. Please try again later."

Not cool.

T-Mobile did not give me a code. It took me to my phone browser and to MLB TV which requested login. Five or so seconds later it told me I was subscribed. Supposedly you have to do it while on the T-Mobile network.

Hmm, I got the free mlb.tv via T-Mobile, but do you still have to buy AtBat (for $19.99) to play on iPad and android phone?

It did not take me to my phone browser, so I opened it myself and logged in (so I thought), but when I went back to the T-Mobile Tuesday app to enter drawings for various baseball trips, I was told I needed to redeem my saved MLB TV thingy. I have no idea.

I think I got it straightened out AND I could cast the video from my phone to my TV screen. I have an LG phone and one of the things on the drop-down menu is Screen Sharing.

Just switched to T-Mobile a few months ago. Was able to get the offer on the website. First time with MLB TV. Just put in on my iPad. I picked the Cardinals/Brewers game. First pitch I see Christian Yelich knocks one out. I'm looking forward to having this all season.

Any of you guys using google chrome to watch MLB TV? I cannot get any of the games to load for the life of me.
Yeah Chrome is working great for me. How far is it getting before it stops loading? Do you get to the black screen with the scoreboard at the bottom of the page?

Does anyone else wish that mlb.tv had something similar to Red Zone, where it jumped around to different games to watch high-leverage situations, big pitcher-hitter matchups, cool highlight moments, etc?

They do this on MLBN a lot, unfortunately Harold Reynolds is often involved.

The free game played ok...but I have a sub and the other games would not load. Around the 3rd inning of the Sox game it started working, I have no idea why it wasn't before that. Hopefully was just an Opening Day glitch and not a recurring theme.

Does anybody use the MLB At Bat app? How come there are no highlight videos available for the games?

I do (the iOS version), and the videos are there for me as always. In Scores, underneath each game there are links to Wrap, Box, Summary and Videos.

Weird. I just checked my phone and they are there. Just not on my iPad.

I'm having the same issue in both the PS4 MLB At Bat app and on the MLB.com website in Chrome - I cannot find either the Game Recap or the Condensed Game highlights for last night's game. The only video that loaded for me successfully in Chrome is Moreland's HR, I couldn't even get the "Sox hit 4 HRs" clip to load within the game wrap article in Chrome. I've never had this issue before.

Same, they must be having a bunch of technical issues.

Check MLB's YouTube channel - I was able to find the condensed game highlights there, but for some reason they cut out right BEFORE Mitch's HR so there are issues even there as well.

I hope they are just having technical issues, as they seem to at the start of every season. I worry that they have cut back on the staffing/resources devoted to highlight packages like those that will lead to them showing up 2-3 days after each game instead of their previous next-day delivery. That could happen either as a pure cost-cutting move, or as an effort to steer more eyeballs towards MLB Network or other highlight delivery methods of their preference.

Did you guys update the AtBat app? I had deleted last year’s and redownloaded the app last week. Working fine on iPad and android phone.

This is for the full-season, MLB.TV, right? Are codes obtained via SlickDeals basically T-Mobile customers who don't care about MLB? If so, will their codes only work if initiated/used on the T-Mobile network (I'm on AT&T)? I feel so dirty, but $5 vs. $118.99 is compelling.

The way it works is you provide them an email address and they input the code/offer onto your account for you since it has to be done from T-mobile for the initial sign up of the offer.

I used a new email address (that I hadn't previously used with mlb) and just had the person create a whole new mlb account for me. They provided the password and I just went in and reset it to something else. It's working great so far.

So the answer is yes to all 3 of your questions.

No. Once the person does the initial sign up for you there is no more need to be on the T-mobile network.

According to the forums you can't access it from a cellular network that's not T-mobile or they can deactivate the account, so it's essentially wifi only.
