I'm in the same boat. I assumed it was a result of my "3 posts in almost 10 years" but maybe not.
Were you paid up? Unpaid members used to have read (but not post) rights in Other Crap, but that's no longer the case.
Will there be a way for cheapskates like me to pay up and restore read access to Other Crap? I read earlier in the thread that the sub system is dead, but I'd like to throw SoSH some scratch. I was going to re-up this weekend when Nip said he was sending the proceeds to Harrison. (Seriously though, no hurry. This is an incredible volunteer effort, praise be. Just hoping it'll be an option in the future).
Two other things I just noticed as I made this post, forgive me if they have been reported I hadn't had the chance to read the whole thread.
- When I clicked on the thread from the main page, it brought me to the last post and not the first unread.
- After I clicked to post my reply, there were seven pages in the thread, but my post was shown at the bottom of page 6. That corrected after I switched pages, so it's not a big deal, but I thought you should know.

I'm in this boat too. Will gladly pay up to remain a part of this amazing group. Regrettably, I didn't pay up in the past only because I couldn't figure out how to, and didn't make it a high enough priority.
Guys - report if you can't see Other Crap here and we will look into it.

If you could only read Other Crap before but not post, you're not going to be able to read it until we get things figured out a little later on. Apologies for the inconvenience.

When I click on go to first unread, it always takes me too far. Like I have to scroll back up about 10 posts to get to the actual first unread.

I can't see other crap. I mostly use the app. I will check from a browser later to see if it is there.

Random note on layout: posts previously had the date at the top of the post, so you could see if the posts you were reading were timely. Date is now at the bottom, below the post, which has me scrolling down (particularly on mobile) to see if it is a timely update before scrolling up to read the post. I may be the only one, but I often like to know the timing/context of the post I'm reading before I read it. This is a stupid minor thing and the site looks great (I love watching the improvements roll out...) but it's a bit of an irritation, though I have no grounds for complaining.

I haven't been able to figure out how to turn off email notifications. The notification email itself has a link to "disable emails" (opaque link through mandrillapp.com) and that takes me to a SOSH page that asks me to confirm. But I don't see a way to get to that settings page and figure out what emails I do and don't want to get. I looked through all the Settings pages I could find. Am I missing something obvious?

No idea on that one. Mandrillapp is the actual mail server but as to how to turn them off I haven't played with those settings yet
Same. That is sidebar nonsense and should never be something a user has to scroll past to get to the actual sub-forums.
Edit: If it must be included it should be where the "newest profile posts" is on the sidebar (which is a another waste of bandwidth).
On top of that, even if I choose to use the newest posts section instead of scrolling past it, there is no option to view the newest post, it will only take me to the first post of the thread. It's beyond pointless.
edit: turns out clicking on "4 minutes ago" will take you to the first unread post. But I still don't see why we need this as the first thing we have to look at every time we click on the site. If someone wanted it to be, they could just bookmark the link to "new posts" instead of the front page.
Fair enough, it's not something that's urgent.
But IMO options are good, and as it is there was already an option to have new posts be the first thing you see. Now there is no option to link directly to the forums without new posts being the first thing you see.

No--unfortunately, the migration took its toll and SSF lost all artistic ability in the process. Kinda like in Superman 2. It's very sad.
Too bad that you lost the "like" function.

Just an FYI, there's talk of lopping off some of the members who are stupid, don't listen or read, and/or whiny.

I mean, just as one example among many, you guys don't really think that recent post shit is going to be permanent, do you? With Nip in charge? The guy who has always maintained that the first line of defense against shitty posting is a clean interface with small sigs and avatars? Jesus Christ...

Could you please re-add the current location to the breadcrumbs? Right now the breadcrumbs only show the parents of the current location, but especially if you're at the bottom of the page they would be an easy way for the user to quickly reload the current page.
