This is the least big deal of all the deals but on mobile (not the app) both "recent posts" and "new posts" are in the nav bar, but only once you've logged in. Obviously it's meaningless but it's a thing I noticed so I here I am.

Also want to add to the chorus of thanks for all the work. I don't know what to do with myself when this site is down.

They are slightly different. "Recent" shows all the recent posts; "New" shows only unread posts.

I'm not sure if I'll be in the one big swoop for OC access or need to put my name on a list so I'm posting here just in case.

Happy to pay if that's a thing I need to do.

Just a warning -- if you don't set your own avatar, we will track you down and make your visual identity the product of our warped imaginations.

When I refresh a page, I would like to see the last post I read. Instead I am moved back to the first post I read when I visited the thread. Can we change that?

Old forum did that too. Your idea is better but harder to implement. I've been thinking about it for a couple days and it might be possible but it's not trivial.

Well, that's interesting. I didn't know that. Either way though, and not that I care, it's different than full browser mode which has only "recent" on the persistent nav bar (though both are under the "forums" dropdown.

Yeah, no biggie. As long as you know about it, you re the best judge of what's feasible and cost effective to do.

Thanks for all of your hard work guys. Love the new site. I'm without access to OC, but please take your time. I'm happy to pay up whenever.

I'm not sure if it's already on the list, I haven't seen it yet, but are we going to have a persistent cookie to keep people logged in? I'm getting logged out across all devices on a regular basis. I'm assuming it's across the board.

Shouldn't be happening.
1. Are you checking the keep me logged in box?
2. Try clearing your cookies in case a remnant from the old board is interfering.

First and foremost, thanks for the update. I'm still getting used to everything, but I imagine this is superior for any number of reasons. Just noticed that my avatar was automatically updated too, nice.

Wanted to mention that the fantasy sports subforum does not seem to be working. As a more cosmetic issue, I would prefer if the time stamps were a bit larger or more differentiated (e.g. by color). I have no programming background, so I have no idea whether that is a sea change or a quick fix, or for that matter whether I'm alone on that. Most importantly, thanks again for all that you guys do.

There is no "Other Crap" section for me.
I saw the other posts and couldn't tell if it was something being addressed or if I specifically had to let you know it was an issue for me.

Thanks for the update - no "other crap" for me either but I kind of get the impression this might have to do with fees - I thought I had a DD or equivalent but if I don't is the ability to pay up now active?

At one point there was the option to mark specific forums as all read. Now on the home page (but not individual forums), you can mark all forums as read, but I don't see an option to all-read the individual forums. Am I just missing it?

1. Go into a forum (e.g. "The GM Time Machine" forum).
2. From the "Forums" tab on the nav bar (top left, beneath the SOSH logo), select "Mark Forums Read". You'll get a popup:

Longtime reader, first time poster. This new theme is terrific, great job guys. I too would like in on Other Crap, and promise to pay when that happens.

We are working on a new subscriber model and just going to test the shit out of it first.

Warning: WHATEVER WE PICK IS GOING TO HAVE SHITTY CONSEQUENCES. Like folks may need to manually cancel their old PayPal stuff. I don't *think* they will have to because the old board had a gateway that approved the reoccurring charges, but I DEFINITELY could be wrong. The hard thing is I will not know until it happens.

I'm guessing this is far too much work, but what about creating a seperate Square-type account where people can donate to and then you/the Dopes just assign member titles when submitted?

Automated is def better but man PayPal seemed to cause you a massive headache. I will say the system that replaced Paypal (I forget its name) was very easy to use for me.

From the forum page, over to the right of the title is an edit button (just to the left of Replies: and Views). Depending on your privs and whether you started the thread, that allows you to edit the title and maybe hide/close/sticky the topic.
I don't know if this has been covered, but what I saw in the thread I started was a "Thread Tools" button on the right just above the first post. When I clicked on it, I had an option to change the title, as well as add a poll. Hope this answers some questions on how to change the thread title.

That works too, cool. I didn't know non-mods got the "Thread Tools" dropdown.

That is effectively what we are working towards, but with some level of automation

There are some challenges to overcome and things to be tested before we can get to that point though.

I think I'm caught up on this entire thread now, and I'm wondering if you can universally clarify the status of people like me who a) had access to Other Crap before the upgrade, b) no longer have that access after the upgrade, and c) weren't/aren't paying members (yet):

1. Is it possible for me to become a paid member immediately and restore that access?
1a. If yes, what's the best way to go about doing that?
1b. If no, is there a timetable for when it might be possible to do so (or would that be that dependent upon other upgrades and factors beyond your current control)?

2. If I don't (or can't) become a paid member, is the plan for me to eventually be able to view Other Crap at some point in the future, or is SoSH fully moving to a paid-only model for Other Crap?

No malice intended in any of these questions - just trying to figure out what the plan is. Thanks!

Any reason my mobile app hasn't changed other than I don't have avatar and can't set one now. Getting a tappatalk error when I try to upload on the mobile site. I'm really dumb when it comes to these new changes. I went cross-eyed trying to figure out why we are now limited in some of the previous forums. I guess my broke ass needs to pay again

50 character limit on Forum titles. We can hack them to be longer but it'll probably break with each update--thoughts on a shorter variant?
One of the Dopes who hangs out there add the parenthetical as a jab at Sachmoney a few years ago and it never got changed back. It probably makes sense to just get rid of it and use the original Breakfast With Gazza.

Please add me to the list of people without access to OC.

Otherwise, great job on the upgrade.

I would love my access back as well, and like others I'm more then willing to pay again once that is an option. With the crazy stuff going on in Paris normally SOSH would be one of the first places I turn to for analysis.

I was thinking the same but also hadn't paid. I was even planning to donate but talk is meaningless and I had not.

When I began posting I remember reading about donating, is there a suggested amount per year that the site requires.
