Peppers and Matthews have been quiet about this (I haven't seen any comments from them, maybe others have).
James Harrison has said things that the NFL office will consider a slight or insult against them.

The odds of Harrison getting a suspension and the other two getting nothing have to be extremely high right?
I've got to agree, I'm of the "bake sale" comment triggered a good part of the enmity on the part of the commissioner. He's a small man.

I can't see how he could treat these guys differently based on speaking with them, unless one of them confesses. Can he be that transparently biased? I know he was in Deflategate, but it's not like there were five deflategates going on at once, all with findings of no guilt except one. My guess is that each instance here will end with some proclamation of "no credible evidence" and that will be the end of it. This whole business seems to be saber rattling on the part of Rog. If they all submit to an interview, then Rog has won again.

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
They don't – at least not in that WaPo article:
Perhaps this isn't the thread for this and there needs to be an "Integrity of the League" thread, but anyway...

"Took care of" as in provided all-access sideline passes for five years.
These gifts include free vacations to a criminal defense attorney’s Florida home, pre-paid Visa gift cards from another criminal defense attorney turned judge, $45,000 in free roof repairs, and two all-access sideline passes to Eagles games since 2011.
Repairs, not replacement: that must be one sweet roof.

This guy gets it.
I have never liked that guy, but damn if he isn't killing it here. I love this approach. Sure you can interview me, but it's going on television for all to see, because I don't trust you.

I can't decide if I want other teams' fans to suffer unjust penalties to key players after begging for Brady to be suspended, or if I want the players to win here to shove it up Goodell's ass, because he clearly deserves that.

If he recorded it he couldn't be suspended for that since it's nowhere in the.... oh wait...

Of course the league will never agree to this. Would Harrison and the PA just walk in with a camcorder and tripod? Maybe he'll wear a bug?

Suddenly, the magnanimous Roger caves and agrees to travel to Harrison for the interview (PA is a two party consent state while NY is not).

I will be fascinated to learn what grounds upon which they will try oppose a request for an interview to be made public. And please, don't say "Article 46" ... the League will need to have some grey area to exploit for PR purposes, whether it's privacy or something. After the kangaroo court that was the Brady investigation, allowing any transparency into an investigation is indeed a slippery slope from the League's perspective – but Harrison is right to push this. They will need to have a semi-credible reason to deny that request.

Why can't they just say "no", then if Harrison refuses to testify, suspend him, and if it gets taken to court, claim article 46 and the recent court cases and voila?

Yeah - the NFL just owned a marquee player in court. They're not going to let a 38 year-old dude who has maybe 1 year left to dictate anything.

“But hey, I don’t worry about Rob Lowe. He is a workhorse,” Manning said. “And heck, man, if they ever stop casting you in sitcoms, just look on the bright side: you tried to take the air out of my retirement announcement so fast, you can probably get a job as Tom Brady’s ball boy.” - Peyton Manning

I'd like Bill Simmons or Lenny Clarke to start making jokes about Peyton's wife using HGH.

Of course that didn't happen either.

The fact that Manning weaseled his way into a cheap SB ring bothers me far more than any Deflategate joke ever will.

Yeah, but it's not a roast of Brady, it's a roast of Rob Lowe. If I were Manning, with his sketchy background, I would not have gone there.
And I'm sure he'll get torn apart on stage as well because, well, it's a roast and the jokes aren't supposed to be (in theory at least) malicious. People here are so damn touchy.

I certainly hope you're correct, but I'm not hopeful. I'll buy you a beer if any of the roasters mention HGH or the scrotum dunk when it's time to take aim at St. Peyton.

Serious question, have you watched any of the roasts? Because I haven't seen many topics off limit, such as Patrice's diabetes or Courtney Love's love of drugs. There's also the issue of editing jokes out for production and time limit sake.

The only one that I remeber that got seriously edited was Gilbert Gotfried. I forget who the roast was, but I remember he touched on 9/11 and some other topics that got some fair amount of blowback.

I'm talking more about taking jokes out of the program on TV for time purposes.

But seriously, people need to stop getting offended about things that might happen, but haven't yet.

They edited out a few jokes about William Shatner finding his wife after she drowned in their pool. I forget the exact line but one comedian said something about Shatner jumping in the water quicker if it was an Emmy he saw at the bottom of the pool.

It was awful....but incredibly funny too.
Hannibal Buress had a few jokes about Bieber that were edited out as well. Something about how the roast was a blatant PR attempt to get people on his side.

It depends who is at the roast. Looking through the cast, Pete Davidson, Ross or Jimmy Carr could all crack a joke at the HGH use.

Recent Ethics Violations Show How The Philadelphia Eagles Wisely Took Care Of The District Attorney

http://www.atlredline.com/recent-ethics-violations-show-how-the-philadelphia-eagl-1785461267

"Took care of" as in provided all-access sideline passes for five years.
This article is a bit unfair towards the Eagles in one spot; the McCoy decision. To be clear, despite the Philly police posturing as upset that McCoy was not charged, everyone in Philadelphia knows that the off duty cops acted inappropriately and against all defined protocols. McCoy acted horribly, he is a crappy human, but these passes didn't lead to him not getting charged, it was the behavior of the cops which was caught on tape.

As far as Agholor, I hope that had no influence. I have zero interest in having highly paid criminals in my area. And if they are here, they should at least be able to make some really amazing mozzarella.

Finally, on the interviews.......I am not a lawyer, but don't all of these guys just have to show up and say "I did nothing that violates any terms of the CBA" and there is really nothing more that the NFL can do? I get that they can't Mark McGwire this thing completely, but pretty much......no?

Someone had a joke directed towards Pete Davidson with the underlying fact of the joke being that his dad died in 9/11. I'm not worried about Manning getting ribbed.

It was Jeff Ross talking about not seeing as much smoke getting inhaled since Pete Davidson's Dad died in the towers. Nobody laughed harder than Pete Davidson. That joke made it to air, and did not get cut, though, which was the purpose of quoting that other joke in my previous post.

I was supporting your point. Calm down people. Again, the "cut" jokes I refer to are the ones due to time, not content. Some jokes suck and deserve to be cut when making a TV special.

Jokes are frequently edited out for content (not time). Unless you have an editor or the author tell you exactly why a particular joke was cut, all you can really do is guess. But in many cases, we have exactly that - comedians in interviews telling stories of their fight to get certain jokes on air. People have already mentioned a few here. Off the top of my head, you can add Jeselnik (no surprise there), occuring on few different roasts.

Overall though, CC is very liberal about what jokes it's willing to air on TV, and that's what makes the show special IMO. Censorship doesn't make for great comedy.

I agree we won't get an HGH joke. Not sure why - probably because it was swept under the rug and no one really remembers.

The NFL might have more questions. Failure to answer might be construed as less than "full cooperation."

From what I read about the roast they didn't care about Manning being there they all went after Ann Coulter including him who made the joke that he wasn't the only athlete on the dais. Ann Coulter who was up there won the Kentucky Derby.

I would give up my season tickets for Brady to post on FB something to the extent of: "Peyton and I have a lot in common; Superbowl wins, MVPs, and neither of our wives have ever used HGH.".

I watched the Charlie Sheen roast rebroadcast they showed last night and if they didn't cut the jokes from the rebroadcast about Patrice O'Neal probably about to die due to diabetes, they probably won't cut anything due to content. Was also interesting in that no one knew who Amy Schumer was just a few years ago.

Except for all the jokes posters above have already cited being removed? Another example just came to mind...Paul Walker jokes were removed from the Bieber roast. Keeping the diabetes joke in is actually paying respect to Patrice - he'd never stand for censoring jokes.

"I'm diabetic. I make fun of that."

Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and James Harrison cleared in NFL's PED investigation.
Once we learned that they had nothing beyond the initial report, there was no way they could have taken any other action since they had already cleared Manning.

The entire "investigation" was a sham dedicated to preserving the image of St. Peyton and his forehead.

From the same report, MLB crushed Taylor Teagarden. The NFL? "Nothing to see here..."
I hate the NFL as much as the next Patriots fan, but is that really an indictment of the NFL though? Teagarden was caught on video. The NFL guys were named but there was no real evidence.

Hopefully TMZ gets a video so that this can all blow up in the league's face.
