Great to beat a very good team (even without Kawhi) when Tatum plays like shit. Kemba was the best player in green, but plenty of other guys played great too. The center tandem looks great, which makes Theis very tradable if they could move him for a more wing like 4.

Lol Ojeleye +11 to lead the team.

but really the big shift that we are seeing here is TL’s ascent into the closing 5 lineup. That’s huge.

Really nice game all around. Bigs were excellent, Pritchard has clearly gotten the message to fire away—I think some of his struggles occasionally come down to hesitating. His shot is so nice he just needs to let it fly.

Kemba was immense with a number of shots that either prevented a Clippers run or were direct responses to LA makes on the other end.

Tatum just needs to move the ball and let the game come to him. I mean, the guy has to feel what we are seeing. Teams just don’t respect the drive right now because it’s too easy to get him to settle. Basically all you have to do on D is quick double, have one guy retreat, and he will feel free to iso again. 5 assists is good but he can do better if teams are going to press him this much. These struggles can be good for him if it forces him to be a better playmaker.

Really starting to dream on TL getting in 30 mpg shape and seeing what we can do with that. That said, Thompson has been playing really well since getting into game shape, and Theis’ 25 are super important as the only real floor stretching big.

Most importantly, we’re seeing some much needed intensity and mental fortitude, which has been severely lacking in Smart’s absence. Keep grinding.

I heard somewhere + - is a compelling argument for playing time. Maybe he played okay.
I dunno. Really didn’t seem to pass the eyeball test. The open brick, letting Zubac through a couple of times, botched close outs. I think the C’s lucked out a bit with the Clippers missing their jumpers.

Our two stars, TL+KW, need more help from others if we want to keep winning.

I know, sometimes plus minus is being out there when your team makes shots, especially in small samples.

Much of Zubac’s damage came becauae TL has to cover for teammates. One time, he stymied Lou Will right at the rim, and Zubac got an easy putback. Another time, he had to cover LouWill working the baseline, and PP didn’t sink in and Williams was able to lat it down to Zubac from under the backboard.

TL dominated that fourth quarter. Besides the clutch defensive rebounding, and big offensive board. he was key in getting the offense going, due to an adjustment by Brad.. Instead of TL setting the highpick, they were splicing him to the weak side up top to catch the ball, to either hand it of. or pass it back to the other side. In both cases, Kemba and JT had more room to work. LA was jamming the p/r up top, but this tweak got some open looks.

Celtics bench 38 points on 20 shots. Clips 30 bench points on 29 shots.

TL 4 for 5, 13 points
PP 5 for 8, 4-7 from three, 14 points
Semi 2 for 5, 2-3 from three, 6 points
Teague 2 for 2, 1-1 from three, 5 points.

Some great chemistry between TL and Pritchard.

Timelord was incredible tonight. Vital on both ends. Offense looked better with him passing out of the middle of the floor.

Tatum is going to be fine, but he's going to continue to draw extra defenders until he shows he'll pass to an open shooter. He looked off a wide-open Pritchard and a wide-open Semi, both of who can hit those shots.

And here's the thing: I think he makes the adjustment. I think it happens this year. And I think it makes this team really really good offensively.

Too close for comfort given no Kawhi but I'll take it

RW needs to play the last 9 minutes of every game but thanks Theis for the 2 free throws

The combination of Kemba looking good, Time Lord’s continued growth, Romeo/Smart due to return in a few weeks, and the possibility of a trade to consolidate the Semi/Nesmith/Teague minutes into something far more useful is getting me hopeful again. Danny really needs to deliver a quality bench wing. Everything else seems to be falling into place.

Thompson / Time Lord
Tatum / Theis
Brown / ???
Smart / Romeo
Kemba / PP

Deep Bench
Semi
Nesmith
Teague
G Williams
Edwards
Tacko

TL dominated that fourth quarter.
TL's block of Mann was incredible. Mann was more surprised than anyone that TL got that.

I guess his 4Q +/- is going up after this game. Also, Cs 4Q assist averag2 is going up as at one time they had 7 4Q assists, which is far above their average. See what happens when people move the ball?

Fun game to watch; good win.

It was surprising to me how well the PP, Teague, Semi, Tatum, TL lineup played last night. Coach Brad rolled it out a couple of times. I was expecting the offense would struggle but they seemed to hold their own. PP and TL had a good thing going.

Those lobs to TL--I mean, it seems like he can get 3 of those a half they look so easy.

The key is figuring out the offense with new Alpha 2021 Jaylen and Healthy(ish) Kemba, along with JT. If they get that figured out, you feel pretty good that most nights you should have 2 of 3 going, and with Smart back soon...

I saw some increased synergy between PP and TL last night. Seems like they are reading each other better and it led to some easy baskets. That would be super beneficial if they can build upon that.

A win against Toronto before the break would be great.
You could build a narrative where there was a 5 week "lost period" where Celtics were 7-14, but otherwise they were 12-3.
Healthy Smart, Romeo, add a wing with the flotsam and/or TPE for the second half.
