That’ll be it for Boucher. The circumstances this year didn’t help, but he is a terrible coach.

TB

Year 1: 103 points, run to ECF game 7 (fun one!)
Year 2: 82 points, playoff DNQ
Year 3: headed towards the basement, fired

OTT

Year 1: 98 points, run to ECF game 7
Year 2: 67 points, playoff DNQ
Year 3: tire fire, fired

For some reason his system works for year 1, then it is a disaster.

That is odd. What is it about his system (is he still running the 1-3-1?) that seems to have such a short shelf life?

GM meetings going on. Looks like 2 new rule changes may come out of it.

- A player would have to immediately return to the bench if they lose a their helmet during play.

- A team going on the PP would get to choose which side of the ice for the draw. This would only be for the first draw starting the PP.

They also looked at shortening penalty time in OT (so a minor would be 1 minute or something like that) but no dice. Fear was that would lead to more shootouts.

Excuse my hockey ignorance, I’m missing something. Why is Boychuk so fired up here? This doesn’t exactly look like the second coming of Matt Cooke here.

I'm with you SC. The first angle looked much worse than the second... which was maybe in my (fan/ can't skate) head an interference.

I don't know, it's definitely interference, and I think I saw he got 2 games for it, so DOPS saw it as well. He definitely 1) went out of his way to initiate contact, 2) leaned into it to make the contact harder, 3) lifted his back/head in a way that make the primary point of contact the head/neck area.

I think I'm okay with the 2 games for it, but it's definitely borderline. I don't see a suspension history for Voracek, so I don't think more was warranted here, but I also think it's a play that the league wants out of the game, and I'm okay with that.

Amusing to see Braden Holtby's refusal to go to the White House getting next to no press, compared the the furor some years ago when Thomas declined to go and it was a huge crisis....

Clearly a globalist conspiracy. And have you seen his hair? We know what’s really going on here.

Thank god you came into a forum you are never in to help us see the light. My now saved soul thanks you and wonders how many more paths that you will help me now walk.

Meh, it was a big deal when Thomas did it because nobody else had done it before, at least intentionally. Thomas handled it well IIRC and tried to not make a big deal of it but it eventually became big deal once his reasoning became more public, as a cursory Google search will show. Not exactly a "huge crisis" but enough of a story.

Given the precedent set by many athletes, not to mention entire teams that weren't even invited by the current President, no, it's not a big deal. Holtby's comments were about as non-controversial as you can get while still taking a stance. Of course, reading between the lines and knowing the work he does with You Can Play, he strongly implies that he feels the President is a bigoted asshole but has plenty of plausible deniability.

The New York Islanders announced that John Tavares’ #91 will be retired in a ceremony prior to tonight’s Leafs-Islanders game at Nassau Coliseum.

Just seems a bit odd to me to raise a players # before they've hung them up for good. Especially when that wound is still pretty fresh for the fan base.

edit: checked the calendar. I'm an idiot.

That is awesome... I casually dropped it on my Isles fans timelines.

LETSGOBRUINS had an article stating that Bergy was ruled ineligible for the Selke due to winning it too much.
