It’s never looked to me like team or manager have quit. They give a shit, the effort is still there, they just aren’t capable.

Gordon came on and committed a dumb foul on the edge of the box. JWP burying the fee kick was as sure a proposition as you’ll see

One of the reasons I became an Everton supporter way back when is that I wanted to root for a team where a top-4 finish would feel like a real accomplishment, but didn’t want to root for a team where relegation was a legitimate possibility.

About that…

This Everton match is much more fun. All hands to the pump for Southampton, just holding out by the skin of their teeth. They look knackered.

You can feel the ire brewing inside Goodison.

Lampard's no fool. He knows you have to win these matches. I feel for Toffees fans. It might have to get worse before it gets better.

The scenes from Goodison are crazy. As bad as I feel being a Liverpool fan today, I realize how much more dire their situation is. As much as I know I am suppose to hate my rival, they deserve better.

I think the loss is what is needed tbh. They had played just well enough recently that I thoughtFL should be given time but he’s not the guy. But swapping him out is not enough either. There can be no illusions now. Losing to two other sides in the drop zone at home is just not good enough.

Just delightful. I’m sure Brighton will sneak into Europe, overstretch and inevitably fall down. But for now…. amazing.

Disagree re the overreach. Seagulls are the real deal. Their young talent is fantastic. Model club top to bottom.

Silva playing tennis in the box. Nice save by Guita.

Cagey match so far, but some real flashes of class, too.

I guess the big brands only want to pay for Manchester derby, and not the Palace-Chelsea derby. Welcome back Gotham Steel, random law firms and "soon to be discontinued" products!

Mitrovic botches the PEN with a double hit …. My fantasy team is very unhappy.
Just barely but undeniable. Ball deflected off his plant leg = double hit = no goal. Took a while for the players and the stadium to figure out what was going on, and of course the crowd was delighted and Mitro wanted to dig a hole and crawl in it. Remember he’s a former Barcode.

this was a great game. Newcastle deserved the points but Fulham battled and can feel hard done by to come away with nothing.

Watching Howe and Silva, one an Everton castoff and the other often linked with the job on the many occasions it’s been open, pit their sides against each other with both in the top six, both playing with quality and smash mouth physicality, both sides having been relegated recently and come back, both having been below Everton in the pecking order…. It’s great for them, especially for Silva who’s a class act, but it hurts.

btw the ref was class on this Mitrovic call. Saw it all the way, communicated clearly, handled a volatile situation well. Other refs take note.

Whatever the fuck started on USA when I missed the peacock switch absolutely ended my faith in humanity. What the actual fuck was that?

I don’t see how you can keep playing Lloris. I have never seen a keeper fall off a cliff this steep before.
