Impressive job by Southampton beating Man City and hanging on without conceding.

Surprised we didn't get a VAR check for offside in the buildup with those stupid lines on the screen.

It's weird that, for all their attacking talent, Spurs are having a CB take direct free kicks.

Gomes bodychecks Son after the ball is gone, wonder if there's some retaliation there?

Lloris went after Son at the half *on the pitch* and had to be restrained by his teammates.

He was pissed at Son for not tracking back when Everton had their only good chance of the half - Richarlison just wide. He was right to be angry.

An hour in, this has been a really dull game. Everton are creating nothing and Spurs haven't been much better.

74 minutes in, no subs yet for Spurs despite another game on Thursday. C'mon Jose.

Whither Sessegnon? Two years ago he was the future of English football.

He's not defensively sound enough yet to play LB and Son has been getting all the minutes as the left-sided attacker. But I'd like to see him get more playing time, Mourinho should be rotating much more than he has.

With Bournemouth on Thursday followed by Arsenal on Sunday, I think Mourinho needs to rotate heavily. Sess is one of those guys I'd like to see get some minutes.

That was a really lame half of football from Everton.
yup.

squad not deep enough to handle these tightly bunched fixtures.

Midfield is poor. No link-up with DCL and Richarlison.

Defending has been solid since the restart, but against a team with better attackers they didn't do enough to get something going the other way.

Unlucky to concede though - that own-goal was fluky and not Keane's fault. If ever a match had 0-0 written all over it, it was this one.

Watch Anthony Gordon. This kid looks very good.

Fair play to Palace for staying in the match after going 2 down to Chesea. Zaha pulls one back with a nice strike from outside the box and they could still get something from the game.

Not sure if Cahill will be back this season. His hamstring went when he was chasing after Wilian, he pulled up mid run and toppled to the ground...didn't look good.

I'm not a fan of these drinks breaks. They're essentially time outs.
They change the game for sure. You could probably make them discretionary I think. The temp is like 17 degrees in London right now. This is different from playing on a very hot Saturday afternoon.

Wow -- Chelsea got really lazy the last 5 minutes or so and Palace probably should have scored. That could be a massive two extra points for the Champions League spots depending on how things work out with City.

One of the better halves of football I've seen Arsenal play in a while. Bellerin has looked more decisive than I've seen him since coming back from the injury. And Ceballos is really hitting form. It will be interesting to see what happens with him. This version is worth keeping if the price is not too outrageous.

Arsenal down to ten men. Vardy evens it up. Silly challenge by Nketiah who was only on for two minutes before getting a straight red.

It was one of those reckless but not particularly harmful challenges that was almost never a red in a pre-VAR world but which looks really terrible in slow motion so a red these days.

I think the goal was actually offside. It looked to me like the second player (Perez?) just barely touched the ball (you can see its movement alter slightly), at which point Vardy was definitely offside. But VAR isn't set up to definitively judge that kind of thing so I can see why they went with the call on the field.

I actually thought this might have been Arsenal's best performance under Arteta. We played them off the pitch in the first half but we (or, more precisely, Laca) just didn't finish chances and then two very close decisions went against us. Shit happens.

I think I agree with all of this, although I'm not 100% sure that Vardy was definitely offside when the second player (Perez?) got his heel to the ball. It seemed like the VAR review was looking at this, but we never got a definitive view of whether Vardy was both beyond the last defender and the ball at the crucial moment. But yeah, it was a great performance, although in fairness Martinez had to make quite a few good saves as well, as Leicester often looked dangerous in attack.

They showed one shot with both actions occurring at the same time (crappy screenshot below). I'm looking at it again and while it seems like Vardy was marginally ahead of Mustafi (what I focused on in first viewing), it also appears that maybe Perez and the ball are ahead of Mustafi at this point too, which would make it onside.

Yeah, I'm not sure if Andre Gomes had PTSD from playing Tottenham again or what, but he was really bad Monday. He made Harry Winks look like N'golo Kante.

West Ham have missed a few chances, Burnley are much more efficient and go into the lead. Rodriguez gets his tenth of the season. Dyche does a ridiculous job at Burnley.

Great Away win for Burnley. Nick Pope with a MOTM performance. Been a fan of his for years. Burnley were super well organised and play some decent stuff.

West Ham look tired and aren't anything like the well drilled machine Burnley are.

Gomes is nowhere near fit. He won't perform at a high level until next season at the earliest. He was never the most mobile guy anyway. He played well last season with Idrissa Gana Gueye next to him as the 2 in a 4-2-3-1. Gueye covered for him with his speed and range - Gueye being one of the best around in the N'golo Kante ball winning/tackling DM role. Next to Sigurdsson and Tom Davies in a 4-3-3 against Spurs, they were basically traffic cones.

Brighton could be level or even ahead with just a little bit more sharpness or luck, or if they could have stayed onside a couple of times (weren't off by much).

Wasn't on for West Ham, but it was a truly Moyesy match.

He started likely his strongest lineup..... unfortunately this was the 3rd match in less than a week for most of them and with the early match on Saturday coming up, seemed strange to burn them out against Burnley instead of putting out your best against a more beatable Norwich side.

The first half... West Ham were the better side, created some chances, hit a post, missed some easy ones... then gave up a goal on a free header when the LB got lost.

At the half, Dyche makes a few tweaks, Moyes makes none. Burley come out and dominate, but somehow don't score. On come Haller back from injury, immediately forces a good save from Pope. Then West Ham run out of steam, 3/4 of the players look dead on their feet. What does Moyes do with 4 subs left, a key game upcoming and a bunch of players who have played over 250 minutes in 6 days..... makes 1 sub, in the 87th minute
