This is essentially the same problem in Canada. A few years ago, EPL and Champions League were both carried on TSN, on a standard cable package. Now, neither are, and I have to pay $150 more per year to get them on DAZN, which works so much more poorly as a product for TV. More money for less product. Aren't we lucky? This is the main problem I have... if Peacock were amazing..then fine. BUT NBC has gained all of the US' access to the best EPL Games.. and they've regressed to taking all of those games off of TV where most users/ cable subscribers can watch them and put them on a highly inferior streaming service solely for the reason of charging more money. They're taking advantage of a new fan base to try and make money, but simultaneously reducing that audience by making them watch on a streaming TV or computer... Let me watch over my cable connection so I don't have to worry about my wifi connection every time I watch a game. Put the best matches on TV and streaming instead of only streaming.. they're making people hate their service by forcing people on to it. If they did something additive to the coverage so that watching on Peacock was a bonus..that would be a draw...but instead it's another hurdle to watch the best games.
My TV's app for NBC Sports doesn't show the games as available, so that's fun. I have to stream from my phone. What's especially annoying about Peacock is that, for games NBC broadcasts on NBC/NBCSN, it streams them on the NBCSports platform, which is a superior platform with richer features than Peacock. NBC could have just used that platform for Peacock; instead, NBC intentionally put the subscription platform on a worse platform.
The PL made this big deal about how penalty rules would change, any contact in the box would not be sufficient for a penalty, and they would make a point of emphasis of not rewarding players for going down easily or before contact. He was going down before contact.
It’s weird. I think this would ultimately have been a stonewall pen. Just finish the play naturally. There is absolutely no doubt, however, it was also a dive. And I don’t want to hear any horseshit about how he was avoiding a plant foot injury- he was diving. The PL made this big deal about how penalty rules would change, any contact in the box would not be sufficient for a penalty, and they would make a point of emphasis of not rewarding players for going down easily or before contact.
So predictably in practice none of that occurs.
he’s been electric today. But it looks like Lage is keeping him exclusively in the far left channel, where do doesn’t really pose a scoring threat.Traore is a truly bonkers collection of attributes in one player.
They like to confine their spoilers to the score ticker. Is there a reason NBC Sports doesn't show in-game highlights from other games--goals, or whatever?
Case in point.Traore would be the best in the world with more accuracy and touch when he hits the ball. He’s unstoppable otherwise. His shooting is awful and his passing is often poorly weighted and placed. Let’s hope he doesn’t dial that in.
He also doesn’t pose much of a scoring threat alone with the keeper so far this seasonhe’s been electric today. But it looks like Lage is keeping him exclusively in the far left channel, where do doesn’t really pose a scoring threat.
Nuno with some 4D chess here… Pep nods approvingly (other than the extra mileage on the car he’s about to buy).Kane on for Son...
Sick.not sure what is up with the Arsenal lineup...is Ben White injured?
No, unless he was off.Wonder if Werner would have been able to finish that...
More like 15.Arsenal seem well up for this but also maybe one of those where they run their race in 30 minutes
Certainly wouldn't have done the hold up play to set it up. And probably woulda been offside on the James cross.Lukaku not Shevchenkoing it yet!
Wonder if Werner would have been able to finish that...
Yes it was a tragicomedy of errors to concede and now they’ve got a lot to do.More like 15.
Yes, it’s the white side panels. Still less egregious than City’s Coventry lookalike this season. There’s nothing wrong with this Arsenal kit but when watching on TV I keep thinking they’re Ajax
Yeah consistency is going to continue being an issue all season I'd imagine. On live view that sure looks like a penalty. The biggest problem with “updating” this rule is there needs to be consistency. I’d be delighted for contact like that to not be a penalty but it needs to be applied like that for all teams all season
I think we’re all going to relearn what a penalty is this year. I certainly prefer Saka’s not be a pen, but I think it’s already pretty inconsistent.but it needs to be applied like that for all teams all season
It’s also weird because that incidental contact is cheaply given all over the pitch. So they need to relearn what is a foul not just a penalty. It’s a good direction for the game but the growing pains if they stick to it are going to be miserableI think we’re all going to relearn what a penalty is this year. I certainly prefer Saka’s not be a pen, but I think it’s already pretty inconsistent.
