Marcel Ozuna hit a HR off of one of the banners at the back of the upper deck in LF. 460+ feet and it should have gone farther.

Just a routine 6-9-3 double play to get the Phillies through the bottom of the 12th at Wrigley...

Bases loaded, one out, PHI went to five infielders, got a routine grounder to short with the right fielder making the turn at 2B.

Wade Miley took a liner off his wrist in the first inning, threw some practice pitches, stayed in the game. Then he took a liner off his leg later that inning, that knocked him out of the game.

Torre immediately suspended three Red Sox players

Ryan Zimmerman is having a ridiculous season. 2/3 with HR #13 and a double in today's game so far. .439/.479/.916 for the year over 117 PA. And Billy Hamilton stole his 9th base in the last 6 games. 19/20 on the year. On pace for a 103/108 with a .303 OBP.

Gaylord Perry just did an interview in the booth of the SEA game. Fantastic stuff.

Yanks up 4-1 after a 18 hour marathon. Orioles beating up Nats.

Is it too early to worry about the AL East standings?

18 hours would have really been something, 6 was long enough. :)

This game turns on you so quickly. Last night Dodgers phenom Julio Urias had a no-hitter through six innings, up 2-0. Andrew McCutchen led off the 7th by ripping one deep into the LF corner, Andrew Toles running at top speed to try to get it and preserve the no-hitter. He came up a few feet short, crashed into the fence, and had trouble getting up. Now it turns out he tore his ACL on that play, out for the year.

I think we can all agree that watching the Orioles bullpen give up 5 in the 8th and 9th to blow one 7-6 is an enjoyable component to one's night.

Happ had quite the debut.
First MLB hit, changed to an error
Homerun
Illegal slide at 2b that maddon/lester can't believe broke the rule and now think the rule is stupid. That slide was the definition of the new rule. Would love to see a complete Cubs meltdown due to the frustration of losing.

Quote from Lester after the game:

“We’re out there playing with a bunch of pansies right now. I mean, I’m over it. I’m over this damn slide rule and replaying if it was too far and all this other BS, man. We’re all men out there. We’re grown men. These guys have turned double plays their entire lives. They know how to get the hell out of the way.”

Max Scherzer took a liner off of the left leg on a hit by Michael Saunders. After cursing, limping, falling on the ground, and writhing around in pain, he got up, took a couple of warm-up pitches and stayed in the game. Doesn't seem to be affected, although he did give up 2 runs so far this inning.

And now the Phils and Nats bullpens are alternating blown leads. Jacob Turner gives up 2 runs in the top of the 8th to make it 4-3 Phils. Then Pat Neshek gives the two runs back on a Michael A Taylor HR to make it 5-4 Nats.

This can be set to be reposted daily….. Another blown lead

They gave up SIX runs in the 8th
It is their whole staff too, Hansel Robles was dominant until a few days ago, now 9 ERs in his last two outings. The NY Post is generally not insulting to players, but today they called Addison Reed "a home-run delivery system". That is rough.

Well, people in Arizona used to call him "Add-a-run" Reed for a reason.

Freddie Freeman has hit home runs against all 10 teams he has faced so far. Couldn't find the single season record. Bonds did 18 and homered against every NL team and 4 of the AL teams in 2001. He must have missed one of them since they usually play 5 interleague teams. I believe 19 is the highest you can do (or 20 if you count the world series).

Crazy BAL/DET game tonight in DET, BAL scored 7 in the 3rd to go up 7-1, DET came back to go up 8-7, Trumbo hit a HR with 2 outs in the 9th off Justin WIlson to tie it up at 8.

No scoring for two innings, DET left the bases loaded in the 11th, BAL scored 3 in the top of the 12th to go up 11-8, and DET has now come back to tie it at 11-11, 1st and 2nd and still just 1 out.

Tyler Collins made the last out in consecutive extra innings, both times with the game tied and leaving the bases loaded. That cannot have happened very often in baseball history. On to the 13th...

Each team is on their sixth reliever, Yankee castoff Richard Bleier for BAL and now disgraced ex-closer K-Rod and his 7.43 ERA for DET.
