Holding's first yellow was also his third at-least borderline cardable offense in the first 25 minutes. It was in part a booking for persistent infringement.

Anyone have a clip of Holding's first yellow? I Can't track one down.

@Morgan's Magic Snowplow , it's a pen call that usually doesn't get blown, but it's not wrong. Clearly some contact and the reason it's not usually given is that it's not usually seen. Ref was on top of it. Shame for Arsenal it's not John Moss out there today.

That kind of foul goes without a yellow very frequently. Two players grabbing at each other while fighting for a ball at the halfway line, no kind of break on. You see referees let it slide early in the match very commonly.

The bigger picture is that the penalty was one of the worst calls you'll ever see and the referee basically reacted to the criticism not by thinking "OK, lets settle this match down and try to make sure I'm not the story" but by having any itchy trigger finger. Holding acted like a moron for the second yellow and he only has himself to blame but the referee certainly played his part in the match degenerating.
I don't know how itchy the trigger finger was. Obvious pullback and obvious elbow to the head did not give the ref a lot of wiggle room to leave Holding on the pitch.

I'll give you the penalty being on the perplexing side. I don't think it was the worst call I've ever seen, but I could see myself saying differently if I owned a red hoodie instead of a navy blue one.

The penalty was a bit tacky, but Cedric does turn his back to Son and just slam into him.

One of the worst calls ever? I mean, come on.
Similar things happen like 15-20 times a match. Have you ever actually watched what happens during a corner kick or a cross into a congested box? More often than not, somebody is being pushed or barged into in order to throw off their leap.

Goal differential is realistically out of reach already for Arsenal, so not much to play for on that end.

Gabriel having all sorts of problems with Kane.

Condescend much? But, nope never watched soccer. At WORST all 5 commentators (2 at game, 3 in booth) said it was *maybe* a bit weak, but go off with your "one of worst calls ever" hyperbole.

Arsenal still in driver's seat for 4th, so you'll be okay.

Shocker, commentators defending referees.

It was a terrible call. I'm not trying to condescend, just looking for some honesty from Spurs fans.

In any case, time for Arsenal to sub off Saka, Odegaard, and get ready for Newcastle.

No argument about corners, but it's apples to oranges, as the foul occurred during open play. Anything goes on corners for sure.

Not being snarky here, but how big of a loss is Holding for the next match?

I think the only Spurs player to worry about wrt YC accumulation is Dav. He's sitting on 4 YCs and 5 is an a 1 game suspension. Maybe sub Davies to avoid a second yellow?
