Up 11-1 in the 9th, the Jays put up another 9 runs against position players to beat the Rays, 20-1.

NINE runs in the 9th. Is that some bad blood? Are they sick of the Rays' shit? I can't wait for them to come to Boston. We owe them a little something.
You know TOR will come and sweep Boston in a series that goes something like 23-3 total score.

Alek Manoah has turned into a pumpkin this year (maybe literally?), getting hammered again today. He was the 4th most valuable pitcher in MLB last year at 6.0 bWAR and is negative so far this season.

87 pitches through 3, if he wasn't hurt before, that ain't gonna help.

Manoah has always been a little lucky in the past but he has totally lost his control. Walks are up 3.5 per nine, chase rate is down 6%, which leads to homers per nine doubling. He is a mess.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this is the first time in MLB history 2 pitchers have gotten their 400th save in the same season against the same former team

It's a shame that's it in that abomination of a stadium but the Glasnow-Kershaw matchup is pretty awesome right now.

Can't tell on the Wallner HR but the Castro one would have not gone over the wall without help.

Funny thing is that (as they mention in that thread) that yesterday was the 30 year anniversary of the Canseco HR off his head.

Quietly the Rangers are 33-18, best start in franchise history.
I noticed that. Their offseason spending spree has worked out better than the Mets' has so far. I guess the dollar really does go farther in Texas than it does in New York.

It also just occurred to me that their start bests those of their two teams that went to the World Series, and further that in the last 15 years, both the Rangers and the Royals had teams that played in back-to-back World Series. Time does fly as one gets older.

The Bochy Effect also has been big for the Rangers

Wow, MIA at LAA, top 10, 5-4 MIA, bases loaded, one out. The pitcher gets an easy comebacker, home for one, first base, easy DP, the game goes to commercial, 5-4 MIA.

Except...

The feed come back abruptly because it turns out the catcher took the ball just in front of the plate and did not touch home plate! The run scores, the pitcher warms up again, the next pitch is a two run single so it's now 8-4 MIA, still batting.

Dodgers/Rays have the ridiculous 11:30 AM slot on Peacock today, 7-7 already in the 3rd inning.

The Dodgers tie it up with three solo HRs in the 5th and 6th, 10--10 now. The Rays approach of trying to outscore the opposition in Fleming games is being severely tested today.

Fairbanks hurts himself in the pen warming up for the 9th, so they leave Adam out there and he gets the 6 out save. 11-10 Rays final. 2 out of 3 from MIL 3 out of 4 from TOR and 2 out of 3 from LAD on the home stand. They’re like a beer league softball team right now.

9 out of 10 teams in the AL East and West would be leading the Central, all of them except the A's.

Logan Allen with the best start of his career so far... 7 shutout innings, 3 hits, 2 walks and his first 10 K game. The Guards might have an overflowing rotation in another week with the return of Triston McKenzie and Aaron Civale to add to Allen, Shane Bieber, Tanner Bibee and Cal Quantrill.

Shouldn't they trade with BAL or STL who have too many position players and both desperately need pitching? Is it time for a Bieber deal?

Complete game shutout in a 1-0 win for Stroman over the Rays, 9 1 0 0 1 8 on 105 pitches, he should get some good talent back if they trade him this summer.

The only way I can see Cleveland trading Bieber during the season is if every last flicker of hope has been extinguished by the All-Star break. I do think he's 100% gone in the off-season though. With the way the Guardians and White Sox have played, the Twins should have already run away with the Central title – they couldn't have dreamed of their rotation being any better – but they have no way to get from their starters to their closer and their lineup isn't a whole lot better than Cleveland's (I've also never found myself impressed by Baldelli's managing). Personally, I think planning an offense around Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa is a fatal flaw, although maybe not as fatal as Cleveland having an outfield entirely devoid of extra-base power.

Civale didn't get very good results in his last two rehab starts, and I'd be just fine with bringing him back as a long-reliever until he proved effective, but I think it's already official that he's starting against the Twins on Friday. Quantrill might want to make a good start tomorrow, because the way Allen and Bibee are pitching they can't really justify removing either one from the rotation. Cody Morris has also begun his rehab stint at AA. If he and everyone else had been healthy coming into the season, he was probably the long-man in the pen and I'd have had him as the #5 starter ahead of Plesac. He probably has to wait in AAA now with Xzavion Curry pitching really well in what would have been his role. Plesac is still garbage with a 5.57 ERA through four AAA starts.

I don't know the Cardinals system well enough to know the pecking order, but I'd be happy with giving them someone (not named McKenzie, Allen, Bibee or Williams) to replace one of their starters on the wrong side of 30 in exchange for one of their outfielders who's 25 or younger. Add sweetener as necessary.

If Cleveland's starting rotation decision that needs to be made by the end of the weekend is based at all on merit, then Cal Quantrill has made his last start for a while... 7 earned runs in the first 2 innings.
