JJ McCarthy feels like this wasn’t a super fair qualifier.Eliot Wolf: "He was one of the only quarterbacks in this draft that after a loss, met with the media." "He understands what it means to be a leader."
There was a slight difference in talent around those two guys in college.I loved the Mac Jones pick because every college game I watched him in he was awesome. Maye was complete shit in the few games of his I watched this year.
Probably a good sign?
Strengths
Weaknesses
- Two years of starting experience and still very moldable.
- Two-time team captain with prototypical size and frame.
- Ball comes off his hand with tight spiral and good velocity.
- Can expedite operation time and release when pressure closes in.
- Unquestionable arm talent to connect from challenging angles.
- Fearless passer with the guts and arm to whip the ball into tight windows.
- Quick pocket climber with discipline to continue searching for targets.
- Mobility to slide free of pocket traffic and toughness to go get needed yards.
- Showed flashes of the clutch gene during his career.
- Struggles with the chess match against pressure looks.
- Inefficient throwing motion creates inconsistencies in accuracy.
- Receivers had to chase too many intermediate throws into the turf.
- Leaves the ball behind crossing routes and RPO targets.
- Can get uncomfortable when initial reads aren’t clear and clean.
- Sixteen career interceptions were mostly earned with poor decisions or throws.
WIth only - er - 27 of the other 28 entrants.I AM CURRENTLY TIED FOR FIRST IN THE SOSH DRAFT CONTEST!!!
What does Bedard know? His tweet after the drafting of Gronk is all I think of when I hear his name.Bedard asked Maye how it felt to go to one of the worst situations for a rookie QB in the NFL.
What a jackass
What did he tweet? What does Bedard know? His tweet after the drafting of Gronk is all I think of when I hear his name.
this seems to be the prevailing sentiment and I don’t get it. “Saw him play bad, but we had to take him.”This was the pick they had to make.
Now, I watched him play against my very very mediocre Syracuse team last year and he didn’t impress me much at all.
But, it’s still the pick they had to make.
They changed OC’s from year 1 to year 2 and a lot of offensive talent left after year one. He faced some adversity last year but you can’t deny the physical ability and tools.this seems to be the prevailing sentiment and I don’t get it. “Saw him play bad, but we had to take him.”
he got worse last year - there was a lot not to like. I don’t get the love
He wasn’t bad when I saw him. He just didn’t strike me as a high draft pick. But a gazillion NFL guys have watched him and think he’s worth that kind of pick.this seems to be the prevailing sentiment and I don’t get it. “Saw him play bad, but we had to take him.”

I saw him play vs my Alma mater uva (who is awful)…at home…and he was terrible
I’m admittedly bitter bc I watched every game jj played and love the player…and believe his leadership and character is off the charts. I think we fucked up but I’ve been wrong plentyHe wasn’t bad when I saw him. He just didn’t strike me as a high draft pick. But a gazillion NFL guys have watched him and think he’s worth that kind of pick.
All I know is that no one knows anything. So I was on team “don’t get cute”. Pick the consensus guy and see how it goes.

jonathan is wayyy in the back left corner of the room
Not trueI think it's important that we all have reasonable expectations for this kid. Which in my mostly-adult lifetime means he has a 1/3 chance of being a total bust that we all want to murder after three years, a 1/3 chance of taking us to a super bowl and making three pro bowls, and a 1/3 chance of winning six super bowls and becoming the consensus GOAT. So, you know, weighted average of those is fine.
Like I said: realism.
You’re right. Maybe ten then. He’s the number three pick!!!!Not true
a QB taken this high has never taken his team to 6 super bowl wins
I hear ya. It took me some time to be comfortable with Maye. I still see him as high risk high reward but I am comfortable taking that swing. His Clemson and NC State games this year had some rough moments.I loved the Mac Jones pick because every college game I watched him in he was awesome. Maye was complete shit in the few games of his I watched this year.
Probably a good sign?
It was either that or Jack Ruby. His middle name is “Lee Harvey.” That’s some fucked up parenting.
This. No need to force anything this year. If the team stinks again, they can grab another elite talent in the 25 draft.Yeah, I'm fine with Jacoby taking the hits next year while Maye learns. Let him take over in '25 when they've finally got a stable OL.
Better than his brother that got Sirhan Sirhan. It was either that or Jack Ruby.
