Is Chris Murphy interesting? He’s 16 on SP top 20, lefty with 3 pitch mix, misses bats. Put up a nice line of 7ip, 1h, 7k/1bb tonight and has performed since promo to AA. 20 HRA is not ideal though. Future pen arm, maybe.
I was at the game but wasn’t tracking Murphy too closely. Fastball in the low 90s on the stadium gun, didn’t seem the be humping it up there to get the velocity but the command of it seemed meh. Solid defensive effort. I might not read too much into the line on a night like Tuesday night: it was a brisk blowout (the minor league pitch clock is great, 11-0 in 2:40), with a lot of hard contact from the good guys. Ron Hernandez in particular was flexing serious pull power, including a foul ball out towards 295 which was the biggest moon shot I’ve seen at Hadlock since Charles Johnson hit one off the scoreboard clock. Casas looked great—doesn’t seem heavy, really short to the ball. Got under it a couple times—one of his two doubles got lost in the lights, but I thought the other one should have been called a HR to straightaway center.

Damn - Connor Seabold with a masterpeice today; a 7 inning 1 hitter and 9/1 SO/BB against a good ScrantonWB team. Keep it up dude, September call-ups are right around the corner

Possibly before so he could be post-season eligible since apparently only Sale can pitch for the ML team any longer

And Jordan hit his 2nd HR in Salem. Currently 3/11 with 2 HRs, 2bb/3k.

Yorke went 2/4 with 2bb in the same game.

TINSTAAP and all but man, our IF in 2024 could be Casas, Yorke, Meyer and Jordan. If Raffy gets extended, Jordan could go into LF. It's hard not to be excited about what the future holds. We finally have a bunch of high-upside prospects in the system.

Mayer homered for a second straight game today. No video as of yet.

Lots of young power brewing.

SoxProspects listed his arm as solid/average. That looked like a whole lot more than average throw to me.

Casas hit his first HR since returning from the Olympics as part of a 2-4, 2 BB night. For August he's at 12 walks, 10 K in 67 PA.

Ceddanne Rafeala is starting to pique my interest. He's a little 5'8 150 pound dude but been on a tear.
Last 29 games, 126 PA/116 at bats, he's slashing .293/.341/.621 with a .292 BAbip. 8 doubles, 3 triples, 8 Hrs, 8bb/20k 5 sb/2cs
first 55 games this year: 223 PA/201 AB, .219/.285/.328 on a .266 BAbip. 8 doubles, 4 triples, 2 HRs. 16bb/42k, 16sb/0cs.

He now has 33 xbh and 21 sb/2cs in 349 PA. He's always shown power for his size but many considered it minimal. People said the same thing about Mookie Betts, though. He's obviously not Mookie but sometimes small guys hit for power. It also isn't a new thing, as he hit for power in 2019 at the GCL.

He has played CF, 3b, SS, 2b, LF, RF this year. It's in order of games played, with the bulk at CF. He projects as a utility player/fringe regular. If the power surge is something other than noise, that projection chances quickly.

There is a video of him upthread making a ridiculous play/throw.

Some reason for optimism at catcher in our top two rungs: Connor Wong .372/.386/.651 with 3 dingers for August, and Ronaldo Hernandez .303/.341/.539 – also with 3 dingers.

2024: Casas at 1B, Yorke at 2B, Mayer at SS, and an ancient (27 year old) Devers at 3B. Who complains?
First time on SoSH?

We'll all complain when the GM who replaces the fan-target Bloom trades two of those guys for an aging bat or No. 3 starter to help secure a WC spot

Seabold pitched 6 shutout innings today. I would really like to see him up and see how he does against major league hitters, even in a long relief role.

looks like the Vanderbilt coach was right when he said Yorke was the best high school bat in the country.

With that bat he could be Chavis level bad as a 2B and still be a positive there.

Chris Murphy is having himself a game. 6.0 ip, 2 hits, 0r, 0bb/11k. 76 pitches, 59 strikes.

Casas is 1/1 with 2 bb in the same game.

Matthew Lugo was 4/4 last night with 2 doubles and a walk.

last 55 games: 248 PA, .302/.383/.419, 25bb/50k. .380 BAbip tho. Needs to hit for more power too. Still, it might be something to build on.

Yorke was 1/4 with a HR

Cesar, what’s your thoughts on Dearden? 24 homers, but does he have anything else to offer?

Career minor leaguer most likely. He's below average or worse pretty much everywhere else. He has cut down on the strikeouts this year. It's possible he develops into more but he has to improve his contact skills and pitch recognition. He offers nothing base running or on defense.

That’s what I assumed since he’s really gotten no pub for this career year. Thanks
