Yep -- nice little boondoggle for the Patriots. That $3M credit is no chump change for the cap. Could end up offsetting some of these incentives.

No more note cards shoved between the ball and stick? No more drama!
how could they do it otherwise? Or, how would the tech know where the ball is when a body part hits?Question: will they use the electronic system to place where the ball is marked down as well? I'm all for this but it kind of defeats the purpose if they are still going to place the ball based on where they *believe* the runner went down.
I'd be ok if that were only the case on replay -- ie, measuring where the ball is at the exact moment the replay shows the knee down, etc.
That’s great but it is still a judgement as to when the body part hits and which piece of ball gps data you pull, so I would love all the sarcastic responses to explain what this trivial solution that I’m obviously missing is. This solves one problem, knowing where the ball gets to if the runner is not down.If only there was a sport out there that already tracked the ball's exact location on the field that the NFL could utilize... Just use Fifa's technology and put it in the footballs and track the data in real time.
Agreed...just knowing where the ball is is only half of the problem. So far there isn't a technical solution for the body parts hitting the grounds. You aren't missing anything. That’s great but it is still a judgement as to when the body part hits and which piece of ball gps data you pull, so I would love all the sarcastic responses to explain what this trivial solution that I’m obviously missing is. But you would need to know where the ball is when the knee, or the forearm, or the ass, etc. touches down. Since you can't have those sensors everywhere, there's no simple way to do it unless you're checking a computer on every play with a tackle. If only there was a sport out there that already tracked the ball's exact location on the field that the NFL could utilize... My response wasn't sarcastic (perhaps you didn't mean me). I just think this only really works for the 1% of plays* that are reviewed where you can sync those two things up. Which is to say, I don't think it matters as much as writers like Meirov are suggesting. That’s great but it is still a judgement as to when the body part hits and which piece of ball gps data you pull, so I would love all the sarcastic responses to explain what this trivial solution that I’m obviously missing is. It doesn't sound like they are changing the ball spotting process, which is truly one of the funniest things about the NFL. It's just a guy, eyeballing while running, at a bad angle.Does this mean we will miss out on those legendary @Deathofthebambino ball-spotting rants?

Only if the schools have all the money they need.Is the NFL gonna have a bake sale to buy the technologuy?
I don't think that's a rule so much as an officiating practice. On punts and stuff they seem to always start you exactly on the front of yard line.Didn’t the rule change recently where the ball is always spotted ON the yard mark, even if it’s moved a few inches? So 1st downs should be easy to spot.
Your link in that post doesn't really go anywhere. To the disappointment of quite a few posters here, Malik Cunningham appears to be making a move to WR.
Sort of like Cunningham's QB career.Your link in that post doesn't really go anywhere.

Maybe you still have a chanceFuck. I need to become rich.
Good for him. This seems rich to me but he also improved considerably last year. They must like his trajectory.
Shades of Dallas in the 90's. Let's hope they also match that group's title total.Gotta give the KC organization credit--they seem determined to put together a roster of guys to meet every single criterion for Conduct Disorder/Antisocial Personality Disorder in DSM-5.

He's going with the treat them like dirt and they'll stick like mud approach? Saddest thing is that he'll probably end up getting something out of this.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-06-03/tepper-group-asks-charlotte-for-650-million-to-fix-nfl-stadium
I literally laughed out loud when i saw this.
Son, don’t make $19 mil a year please$35m/y for Jefferson, $19m/y for McCaffrey. Not that it's news, but mamas, don't let your kids grow up to be RBs.
It does play to his strength as a blocker …
I'm honestly surprised he's still in the league. He's the poster child of the BB crony-scout accusations, and you really can't blame one guy, but missing on that WR class really did contribute to the end of the dynasty. The End
