around the way
If he stretched out his MCL and has no meniscus or other ligament damage, that's way to the left of the outcome spectrum for a pileup like that. Good news for Kyrie fans. He'll sit out the six weeks at least if not much longer, but it's really not that bad of an injury.

another onion peel from the 2018-19 sh!tshow

https://weei.radio.com/blogs/nick-friar/rozier-talks-brad-stevens-and-kyrie-irvings-relationship
it kind of wasn’t coach-player. … It was kind of like coach-younger coach,” Rozier said. “When he came over (to Boston) he won a championship, him being who he is, Kyrie had a lot of stuff that he felt that could change, that he wanted to change about the Celtics. (These are) all on-court things. He felt like he knew a lot of his basketball.

1. Bron won the Cavs a Championship, they were crap for 3 seasons when Kyrie was there without Bron.
2. Brad Stevens has forgotten more about basketball then Kyrie knows

God, I forgot how glad I was to have Rozier gone.

Somewhere
Now we know who was leaking all the locker room bullshit to the press.

I mean, we knew already, but it's nice for Terry to provide confirmation.

Man, I somehow missed that whole “Brad, what does government mean to you” imbroglio.

That said, I don’t think Rozier is anywhere near the problem Kyrie was (not that anyone is suggesting that). Rather, I think he and guys like Mook were emboldened by the way Kyrie conducted himself to speak out and play in a way that more or less advanced themselves over the team.

I also think it's a lot more understandable for Rozier to have a gripe of "I deserve more playing time and Hayward is stealing my minutes undeservedly". Like, I disagree in the end, in that we had to invest in him returning to form, but given that it came at the expense of him and Morris, I at least get it. It's a normal human reaction. I think he crosses a line when he airs dirty laundry to the press, but at the end of the day he's only got a short window to play in this league and has to advocate for himself and do the best he can for himself, and 3 @ $19M says it worked.

Whereas with Kyrie, the dysfunction he brought seemed to stem from some true crazy. Telling the coach his job, telling the rookies to know-their-place, it's hard to know where the joke ends and the reality begins sometimes.

I think Rozier inartfuly expressed the Hayward situation, which , as you say, is it least a logical reaction. He wouldn't be the first guy to overestimate his own skills relative to the league.
But he also didn't suggest at all that he thought Kyrie's "my way" approach was inappropriate.

A sure sign the players association will fold at crunch time of the cba negotiations...

I get where this comes from given last year but the guy hit arguably the most clutch shot in NBA finals history.
You know, when you’ve been there, when you’ve hit those shots, when you’ve been a hero, it’s hard sometimes to understand what these young guys are going through and how they perhaps don’t fully cognicize the tribulations of leadership. I sometimes like to reflect on the leaders of history, and how Jesus probably had similar difficulties with his followers. It’s like, man, he had done some miracles, I’ve hit some big shots, but they still don’t believe and aren’t willing to work on your craft with you.

Do we have actual evidence that lovegtm isn’t actually Kyrie? Like, can we go back and find a time stamped post of his from a time Kyrie was physically on the basketball court?

Glad to see Jaylen on it. What’re the chances that he subtlety makes Kyrie look like an idiot during one of the meetings. I.e. Stable genius Kyrie thinks what Jaylen says is a compliment but it’s a diss.

It's weird for me to talk about a person as "being" someone...as if our lives can be reduced to simple copulas--really, we're all part of one giant, cosmic life/basketball game that is spiritual and touches everything in my craft.

I guess it is possible to hurt your shoulder patting yourself on the back.

I occasionally go to the Nets Daily message boards. The majority of the posters there are in that “imagine how good we’ll be when Kyrie returns” phase.

Yahoo reporting that he has opted for surgery. Will miss "extended" period of time.

That means until any potential Celtics-Nets first round series is off the table.

Kyrie's had a heck of a lot of work done on his body. Both shoulders. Both knees. Quads. Hands. Toe. Didn't have have a back thing, too? This is going to add up.

The 2nd half of his career could be grim.

Mr. Glass

He also had broken bones in his face, led to the clear mask last season and this year.

feeling good about this from the Bold Prediction thread in October:
9. Kyrie Irving plays fewer games than Zion, even after surgery

Well, there's really little motivation for him to play this year. With Durant out, this was going to be a lost year anyway. I'm sure he wouldn't enjoy another playoff humiliation - especially if it happened to come against the Celtics.

It's pretty hard to come up with a good reason to have impingement surgery in February while your team is currently in the playoffs (assuming his new imaging studies didn't show a rotator cuff tear or something new).

Even if Kyrie really does have substantial pain that's preventing him from playing right now, he could let it settle down and see how things are feeling in few weeks. If he was willing to try Advil, that might also help...

The surgery is minor and almost always done in the offseason. There is no real risk by waiting. Feels a lot like just a way to punt on the season, avoid an embarrassing exit, and save his legs for Durant.

In Kyrie's first 9 years in the league he's played fewer than 70 games on 6 occasions. Out of a possible 738 games during that span he's missed 210 or an average of 23.3 games per year being unavailable.

This is still going to be one dangerous team next year with Durant added to the mix.

It will be fun to watch the 2021 Celtics run the Nets off the court.

EDIT: Also, it will be hilarious to watch Kyrie calling for Tatum on defensive switches in a losing effort in game 5.

I'll take Oft-injured and Overhyped for 200 Alex...
