Here we go.

More importantly, I was offered tickets to tonight's game. My last time at the stadium featured seeing Gronk carted off while a Bronco dad screamed "That's what you get for being a cheating little bitch" while his 10-year son watched with glee. Should I go, or is this going to be a 5-3 snooze fest?

Non-exhibition rematch of the previous year's Superbowl? Yes, you should absolutely go. And 5-3 doesn't make it any more of a snooze fest than a 1-0 pitching deal.

Okay, I'm going. Apparently it's been 40 years since the two prior super bowl teams met in the next season opener. It's a beautiful day here and there 375 breweries on the way to the stadium...

This is the first season I have absolutely no interest in following the NFL. I'm NFL'ed out I guess. I seriously may not watch a game this year, and I'm usually psyched about the start of the season. It's not so much a f-u to the league, I've just become uninterested in the sport. It's weird.

I love the "protest the anthem" stuff. For a league and a fan base that wraps itself in the flag and glorifies the military as much as any professional sports league, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Funny you mention this as I'm not quite at this point, but for whatever reason, I really could give a shit less about the NFL this year.

I've got a show in VA on Saturday and normally, I'd get up at the crack of Christ on Sunday and rush home like a maniac up 95 back home to watch football all day on Sunday, but I am in no rush to come home and that includes the Patriots game at night.

I also have a show out in Chicago the week of the 19th and jumping through hoops to watch the Thursday night home opener vs the Texans isn't even on my radar right now.

I never thought I'd feel this way, but here I am.

The cradle of the game.
Are the "12's" going to take part in this too; all for one, one for all, every man for himself and all that other good stuff.

This is unbelievable.
Anything that puts the league or its commish in an awkward spot is certainly unbelievable.

Unbelievably awesome, that is.

Apparently the ticket I was offered is in a private suite. Holy shit. Field access, carving station, oh, why yes, I'll have a whiskey.

The on the field action is enough to keep me watching despite the NFL's general awfulness. Football rules.

It really does, despite all of the horrible things involving NFL and the billion issues with the league; it's pretty damn impressive that they can create a product so incredible that everyone not only watches it, but desperately craves it throughout the year.

I'm really interested in seeing Carolina. I think they'll be a 10+ win team, but if they went 6-10 would it really be THAT surprising?

Glad the Broncos player kneeled down, more players need to follow suit.

I hate Goodell but I can't ever let the NFL go.

Well that's one way to make an impression on your first career carry.

The player that kneeled down was Linebacker, Brandon Marshall. Another prestigious alum of the University of Nevada, with Mr. Kaepernick.

Al Michaels has been the best for years, but it feels like he's lost something.

Benjamin is going to make this Carolina offense legitimately scary good. They were such a good team last year that people forgot he got hurt in the preseason and missed the entire year, and they completely forgot how fucking awesome he was as a rookie the year before.

That's because he wasn't awesome. Unless you're talking about fantasy football. Even then, he was good, not great.

I've made this point before, but he was a guy who put up good numbers because Carolina's offense sucked and they had nobody else to throw to besides him and Olsen. If you break his numbers down and look at his efficiency, he was not good. He just got a lot of targets. They went like 6-10 that year and were playing from behind a lot.

He's a talented guy and could develop into a very good receiver, but the raw numbers from his rookie season look far better than his game tape. He dropped too many passes and caught a lot of garbage time touchdowns.
