Nice to see the Spurs get their hardware. Classy team & organization. If Boston can't win it, I'm always fine with the Spurs as a backup plan.

Mavs @ Spurs and Rockets @ Lakers tonight.

Are we sure Manu Ginobili isn't a wizard? Can we strap him into the dunker and see what happens?

Excellent start to the NBA season and a sign of what should be a gritty season in the Western Conferece. We got some vintage Manu, TD still making defenders miss on the block, Dirk putting in the impossible, and Rick Carlise probably deserving a nobel prize for lassoing in Monta Ellis into a very good team player.

I'm cheering for Kobe Bryant. That feels really weird to say.

(I mean, they're not gonna win, but I want them to be fun.)

Uber-hyped Anthony Davis' first game:

36 minutes
26 points (10-22 FG; 6-9 FT)
17 rebounds (9 OFF; 8 DEF)
9 blocks (!!!)
3 steals
2 assists
0 turnovers
1 foul
+19 +/-

Against the Magic, sure, but holy shit. That's vintage Hakeem.

Is there any place where I can wager on the number of teammates that Kobe strangles during the '14-'15 season?  Its going to be a non-zero number for sure.

I could watch the Mavs play the Spurs every night. I really like the Mavs' roster.

Kobe comes in with the Lakers down 19 and 9:30 left in the fourth.  The ball gets passed to him after just one LA touch and he proceeds to throw up a hero-ball brick from just beyond half-court.  I expect we'll see that play around 400 times more this season.

I just tried to watch some of this game after watching spurs mavs. Didn't even look like the same sport. Davis is incredible, I agree with that.

Kobe and Dwight going at it after Howard elbowed Kobe after a rebound.    Awesome.  "The NBA, where bad former teammate blood happens!"

Julius Randle just either tore his achilles or blew out his knee. One regular season game. Glad the Celtics went with Smart

Broken leg. Looked like it could be compound fracture just above ankle.

Kobe visibly told Dwight "Fucking try me. You're soft."

My only regret about this delicious train wreck of a Laker season is that Derek Fisher can't somehow suffer beside Kobe.

Ok, one more regret: they have a decent chance of keeping their pick. I'd like them to be the sixth worse team in the NBA if that can be arranged.

And this is why, improbably enough, I am Team Kobe this year. They aren't gonna win anything but I want to see him will himself to 40 point games just so he can sleep at night.

Kobe is the ultimate fake tough guy. He makes these comments because he knows nobody will risk the suspension. He was never tough at any point.

Disagree. IMO Kobe Bryant is one of the toughest players in the NBA and isn't intimidated by anybody. I respect players that don't take any shit.
Whether its dealing with a younger punk in Rondo or a Ron Artest or even Matt Barnes, Kobe hasn't been afraid of any conflict.

Now let me go throw up for defending Kobe.

I rooted for the biggest fake tough guy and he brought us the last banner so I will not begrudge any nba player for a tough guy act

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Kobe, but I admire his toughness and his utter commitment to getting the most out of his ability. He is an incredibly easy target, and lets face it, Lakers management hasn't helped him out one iota the last couple seasons, but he keeps working his ass off trying to be the best. I would like to see him get 25 a game.

In things I didn't expect to be saying: Amare Stoudamire is abusing Noah and Gibson, Chicago should win easily, but Amare looks surprisingly great.

That outlet pass? That is going to be a lot of fun this year.

The blaring music is so unnecessary and takes away from the game, for me. Maybe I'm old.

LOL, 71 points with 6 minutes left to go in the 4th quarter against the Knicks? Really?  I guess the Cavs don't have anyone who can create his own shot.

I'm a little confused why the NBA's greatest offense of all time just reached 80 points late in the 4th against the abysmal Knicks at home.

The heat played suffocating defense and could stop the ball. The cavs appear to have a lot of work to do. The knicks beat them off the dribble almost all game.

And the heat also had 3 point shooters. Like real ones. Not chuckers like waiters and irving

Welcome home, Lebron.

Didn't that Heat team start out like 8-9 or something?
