Ben Simmons of LSU passing TWICE on the final possession down 1 was embarrassing.

Imagine if he didn't drop a 21/20/7 line on Marquette while going the entire 40, right? Simmons is a lot like LeBron at the same age in that he is an unselfish distributor by nature. The initial play was ideal in using the dribble to force the defense to collapse to get his teammate a clean 3. Once the ball got back he probably needs to look for his own shot but getting the teams 2nd leading 3-point shooter a look to win the game is far from embarrassing.

They were down 1 why the fuck would you try to take multiple 3's? Twice he has the ball in/near the paint and kicks it out both times.

Put up a shot.

He collapsed the zone with his dribble drawing 3 defenders and passed to an open man. To Marquette's credit they closed out on the shooter quickly. As I said on the second he could have make a move on his own but saw a great shooter open and got him a shot at the win. It's not like you can snap a finger and get a good shot off against a solid team in a final possession against a zone with the clock winding down. I mean the kid carried LSU for 40 minutes including the go-ahead hoop late.

Yeah I have no problem with either pass there. First one he has to make that pass. Second is at the outside of his range with a clogged paint, he found the open man, problem was he threw it to the wrong side of the shooter's body. He puts that on the right hand and he has a good shooter taking an open shot in rhythm. The decision was fine, the execution was poor.

So UCLA took down #1 Kentucky last night, which isn't all that shocking in and of itself. However, when you remember that UK was up 41-7 at halftime of last year's game, it is pretty remarkable. UCLA scored 9 points in the first 3 minutes last night. Quite the turnaround.

UCLA absolutely dominated that game last night. Once they build the lead they never let it get back within 8 points.

I know they beat Duke, but I'm not really impressed with Kentucky so far - UCLA simply packed everybody inside to cut down their dribble-drive offense and forced them to make jumpshots, and until Murray got hot late they simply couldn't make shots.

And they don't have a polished big man to just dump it into like Anthony Davis or Karl-Anthony Towns - Skal, while obviously talented offensively, is a beanpole and needs to put on a lot of weight and muscle, and Calipari just put him on the bench for long stretches last night because he was overmatched by Welsh from UCLA and couldn't box him out to secure rebounds. If Skal thinks he's leaving after a year or even two, he's nuts. He needs three years like John Henson did when he came to Carolina.

Why is Skal nuts if he's drafted mid to high lottery this summer? Teams aren't going to draft him on the present they will draft him on his future and upside. With the cap skyrocketing there is even greater value now to get to FA asap.

Fuck Calipari.

That is all.
So my parents went out to Chicago for the Kentucky game a couple weeks back. Night before the game, they end up a table away from Calipari at a restaurant (they were with a couple friends who were Kentucky fans). As Cal got up from his dinner, he saw my mom and dad decked out in Duke stuff and came very to chat with them for a few minutes. Joked about how inexperienced his team was, wondered what he would get from them, and wished my parents a great trip and hoped they would get to see a great game.

Kind of crushed the hate I had for him there, so now I'm looking for a new #1 target if anyone has any suggestions.

Listening to highlights during UMass-Ole Miss and heard Perry Ellis' name called and couldn't believe it. How is this only his fourth year at KU instead of his tenth year at Olympiakos. Just go away Perry Ellis.

I had to stop by and post this here - Northeastern is hosting Michigan State on national television on Saturday. First time Matthews Arena has sold out since 1995-1996 (I believe it was when Duke came to town) and the second time ever NU is playing the #1 team in the nation. I can't fucking wait.

Ok I confess I got message boards confused. On the private Stuck board (now CelticsNuts) years ago there was a Northwestern grad and we purposely confused them with Northeastern for years, it was a running joke......and I am the one who was confused this time. Carry on.

Oh yeah you lose a senior avg a double double when the backup are freshman, you're a new team. They just need to tread water until February when he's hopefully back. Get a 3 or 4 seed and go from there

What has Duke ever done with a 3 or a 4 seed in the tourney? How many times has Coach K done it the hard way to advance to a Final Four?
What have the Pats ever done with a 3 or 4 seed in the tourney? How many times has BB done it the hard way to advance to a Super Bowl?

Andre Drummond-lite Maryland center Diamond Stone dropped 39/12 in a come from behind win over Penn State. 32/7 in the second half alone for a raw freshman just getting accustomed to the college game. He was one to watch prior to this game now all eyes are on the Diamond.

Nova leading Xavier by 18 at the half. Cats need to close out this win after losing vs. two other top 10 teams (OU, UVA).
