Two really tough no-calls on Texas Tech’s last two possessions. The second one might have been good D, but the first was an obvious shove in the back by the Arkansas defender that should be called.

TTech missed like 4 layups down the stretch, and the FT. Weak

It hurts me to admit it, but I’ve always liked Arkansas in basketball. Goes back to those fun Nolan teams I loved to watch when I was in middle school.
Your secret is safe with me.
My son was pre-school during those glory years, so this is his first chance to see a good Razorback team. The defense, and the scoring off the defense, remind me of Nolan's teams.

I’m a Loyola faculty member since 2012, so I’ve had a decent view of Moser’s work. He’s built an incredible culture, but where he really shines is as a teacher. His teams consistently execute at high levels and always play fundamentally sound basketball. I think those things are portable provided Moser finds the right athletic department, including an AD that’s patient and supportive of Moser’s process-oriented approach. Because Moser doesn’t have that charismatic, fire up the campus personality, an AD has to sell the idea that the results will pop 2-3 years from now

(As an aside, I have been at a few different schools, including an Ivy, and none have had an athletic department as focused on academics as at Loyola. They are on top of the students, and I’ve yet to have a single issue with a Loyola athlete. Comparatively, I was at Miami (FL) for a year and I saw some shit. One old, long tenured professor told me “Don’t fight it. They’ll bury you .”)

Anyway, if I’m running the search at IU or any of the other big time programs, I’d be concerned that Moser has never coached - not even as an assistant - in a place with pitched politics. How is he going to navigate the donors, the boosters, the sneaker company reps, the recruiting middle men, the elected officials, and at IU, that Knight guy who hovers over everything?

I’d also have questions about Moser’s ability to recruit at the highest levels. He hasn’t really punched above his weight despite being located in one of the best basketball towns in the world. He’s also never been an assistant at a school that chased top-50 guys. If landing those kids is part of the job description, you have take a bit of a leap to hire Moser.

My brother-in-law grew up hanging out with the Moser family. He says Notre Dame is Porter’s dream job, so watch that.

I’d love Loyola to hang on to Moser. He’s such a great fit for what our university is. But after today’s win, I’m resigned to the fact that he’ll be poached.
Moser reminds me a lot of another Jesuit University coach I root for. Hope you guys can keep him

Absolutely no rooting interests in this tourney and haven't looked at my bracket rankings... I am rooting for chaos.

Edit: I did hear from the organizer of the pool that there was one guy who lost only one game... But he had Colgate winning the whole damn thing.

The talk before today was, which would sting more - losing Moser to DePaul or Marquette? After this win, I wonder if Utah might get interested, particularly given Moser’s Majerus connections.

I think I need a COVID test after watching those clips of the Oral Roberts watch party. I guess it'll be a good experiment to see how effective masks are in an enclosed, jam-packed environment with people screaming.

I was lucky enough to be at the Final 4 in 1994 and watch that team win. They were so much fun.

Well nevermind. Beavers pull off the upset despite a thousand turnovers. They were picked to finish last the PAC 10 and now are in the Sweet 16 vs Loyola Chicago. Crazy.

That game was ugly. 75 free throws. Swallow a damn whistle sometimes.

I'm not a huge college bball guy but in the few times I saw Cunningham this year I was thoroughly underwhelmed every time.

Doesn't look anything like a #1 overall pick to me.

To my admittedly untrained eye he looks like just another skinny guy launching threes; does not seem like a real difference-maker. Unfortunately I'm one of those very casual fans who bought into the Cade/OSU hype, and had them making the Final 4.

I watched to scout Loyola's next opponent. Like he did for Moses, God is clearing a path for Loyola again.

During that run in the second half, you could see Cunningham playing with the Jayson Tatum Starter Set of Offensive Skills, but the rest of the game was decidedly unconvincing. He needs to wind up in a good situation with good coaching.

Garza with 20 with 4:29 left in the 1st Half.
Geez, I totally forgot there were men's games today. It's Monday and there usually aren't games on Monday (except for the title game, that is). Time to fire up YoutubeTV while I work!

It's been a really fun half. I'm not complaining about all the points and offense to get the day started

That was cheap as hell at the end. Like the playcall was to draw a 3 point foul.
