Well to be fair the rest of the country needs grist for the “Make Fun of New England” mill so I get it.

Exactly. Not much of a show.

This show wouldn’t exactly make itself but it’s almost endless content they already own the rights to and I’m sure they’d get some local journalism awards.

One episode about every Red Sox Hall if Famer interviewing their friends & teammates and showing highlights.

One episode about every World Series championship team, and then start going through other notable teams (03, 86, 78, 67, etc.).

Give NESN360 subscribers access to this content early and sell the DVDs / files online.

I have to imagine this would her higher ratings than the dead air they mostly show, right?
I’m sure they could also show the highlights of each year. I remember watched by the 86 one over and over again when I was a kid. I’m not sure if this is an MLB/NHLProductions thing or what but maybe they could work out some sort of deal.

Call it the NESN Classic hour or whatever. It’ll be a gas.

I guess I'm the only one who appreciates the games they've been playing this year from the 2000s. Trouble is, I usually don't know when they are on, as they don't promote them, and I tune in late to just see a bit of any one of them.

I enjoy checking in on the old games. I like to block out the date on the screen and try to guess the year based on the players on the field.

I think they regularly air at 5am on NESN then again in the afternoon on NESNplus (1pm?). At least during the week, that is. The weekends might be different.

I watched a couple yesterday from '15 with Papi mashing and Pedroia making impossible plays.

So there's some way to get a 4k HDR Sox broadcast? Without paying $30 a month or just by doing that?

Directv has had Red Sox home games on a v4K channel most of this year. I like it.
FiOS carries those 4K Sox telecasts, too. I just got my first 4K TV on Saturday and the games look spectacular in UHD. The Sox' on-field performance, not so spectacular.

Watching a game from '88 on NESN right now and it's so damn good.
Day game. 100° at Fenway
Clemens pitching in the 9th in a 2-2 game. He's at 130+ pitches and 12 Ks
Remy sounds so young
Ellis Burks loses one in the sun
Home plate ump sucks
Lee Smith warming
40% of dudes in the stands shirtless
Rob Deer just popped up to Marty Barett
Low vibrations from Sherm Feller's voice with the chills
Clemens just struck out BJ Surhoff on pitch 150. 13K...
On to the bottom of the 9th

Romine leads off bottom 9th with a double low off the monster.
Gedman bunts on first pitch, throw to 3rd is a half second late. 1st and 3rd no outs.
Eddie Romero is up

And he's out on a short fly to right
Jody Reed intentionally walked
Marty Barrett coming to the plate
Outdield and infield in...
Base hit between 3rd and short
Red Sox win 3-2

I forget who the play by play guy was back then but he sucks. Getting players names wrong every inning and Jerry never corrects him, though you can tell he wants to.

1988 on NESN, it was most likely the legendary Ned Martin on play by play, unless it was a fill-in (which at the time should have been Sean McDonough).

Damm you.!! Wash your mouth out with soap.. Ned Martin was one of the Red Sox greatest announcers. You seem too young to have heard Ned team with Jim Woods on the radio. What you said is blasphemy. Ned might have been slowing down in 88 but he should still be recognized as one of the great announcers. He should probably be in the Hall of Fame.

I am a couple years too young I guess. He must have been having an 'off' day, because he definitely mis-called a couple plays.

It's kinda ironic that we are talking about the lack of historical Red Sox games on NESN. Tonight I was flipping through the channels and between the hours of 8 to 10 pm I came across almost a complete game replay of the September 30 1967 game against the Twins that the Sox won 6 to 2 to clinich s tie for the pennant. I had no clue it was on I had never seen the telecast which featured Ken Coleman Ned Martin and Mel Parnell.
Earlier tonight Ii saw a special edition of the Red Sox Report fron 2017 which focused on the Imposdible Dteam Team in general and Yaz in particular. It was interesting. I just wish NESN would publicize more when they would air such things as the 2 above programs.

BROCKHOLT! Will be a studio analyst for the next 2 games. Hopefully he gets considered for a larger role next year if he does well.
Looks like he made ~$13M in career earnings. Certainly more money than I'll ever make by a large amount, but maybe a low enough amount that he'd consider a full-time role (say, 150 games?). In comparison, Youk made $50M and I'm not sure why he'd want to commit to a Remy role with that sitting in the bank.

Caron clearly has no idea which replays they are showing in the post-game show {OK, rain delay show}.
