So the Cup is going to be lifted by either a lucky AF Islanders team, the scumbags in Tampa, or... the fucking Habs.

I hate everything.

This is at least as awful as 1993 and probably on par with 1986. They aren't good. Seriously. If the Canucks didn't get wiped out with COVID these fuckers would be golfing.

And it would be totally 1993 for the Islanders to fuck it up and take out the last team that might beat them. Fuck everything.

Regardless of whether you like the Habs or not you have yo give them credit. They were down 3 games to 1 vs Toronto and came back, They don't mind getting their nose dirty, they take a hit to make a play, dive in front of shots and they have perhaps the most exciting youngster in the league in Caufield. Plus they have a goalie that can steal a game. AND i say this even though I detest them.

Can’t fucking believe I have to root for Tampa now. And I mean root hard because I want to see Montreal not just lose, but get destroyed in the finals.

I want to see Kucherov, Point and hell even Stamkos get hat tricks every game. One per period.

I'm done watching for the year. Just tell me who wins the Cup . . . sometime in October or November, maybe.

I have to say that DeBoer has always struck me as Bruce Boudreau level coach. Gets great results in the regular season but shits his pants in the playoffs. That Game 5 decision is beyond bewildering.

I'll probably catch Game 7 tomorrow night and that will be it. As others have mentioned, Isles-Habs is going to transport this league back to the late 90s but I'm kinda okay with that because A) I won't be watching, and B) this league deserves such a sucky Final after all the bullshit they've let go these playoffs. If it's Tampa instead, I definitely won't be watching because a team I despise is going to be winning it all.

You mean you didn't like his strategy of flipping a coin each morning for who to start the last 3 games?

As much as the goalie selection was bewildering, what got me was the lack of focus and intensity the Knights had in every game. Invariably they’d get their shit together for a period, usually late, but many of their players didn’t seem to care until it was too late.

Toronto, Winnipeg and Vegas were all supposed to steamroll over Montreal but dreaded Red, White and Blue team had the last laugh on all of them. And what the heck have they killed something like the last 29 or so penalties called against them?

I thought I heard Cuthbert say 30 straight kills.

Gut check time: how many of us would be 100% behind this team if they weren't wearing that toilet seat on their chests? I think that's the thing that bugs me most.

As a Leaf fan I am envious of how hard they play and how willing they are to throw their bodies in front of shots and regardless if their size play physical. Sadly my team was built for the regular season when the effort wasn't needed every shift.

Of course I prerequisite as a Habs fan (maybe the only one here? Feel like spaceman's bong or someone else before was) but they really did dominate that series. You can dislike how they play but to me the vegas forwards showed up as much as they got shot down in the D zone. It's a Canadiens team that's playing tighter than I've ever seen. Idk if it's sustainable but they're playing well.

This is the final straw for my hope. It’s become clear to me that good things no longer exist in the world. Hopefully we tilt off our axis and hurtle into the sun before this team wins a cup.

I'm mad at the Bruins actually. The Islanders are a toilet scum team and the Bruins couldn't get past them (leaving aside the officiating). Had they won it would have been glorious to be maybe looking at a final against the Habs. But here we are instead. I'll probably not watch more than highlights.

Also, screw Tampa. When did they get the right to take all our good things? At this rate I assume they'll soon have an NBA franchise winning the championship behind Tatum's MVP performance while America discovers that USF is the world's greatest university.

The problem is, you really can’t leave aside the officiating. It swung the series. Along with Carlo getting hurt and Rask playing injured. You need injury luck, puck luck, and officiating to go your way to win playoff series and the Bruins got none of those.

This.

I'll watch tonight just because, but I'm done watching regardless of who wins.

Fuck the Islanders and that shithole they play in disguised as an NHL arena.

And fuck Tampa; I don't want to live in a sports world where that broken toilet of a city with their bandwagon fans who care more about the early bird special at Sizzlers is the hub of the sports universe.

And my feelings towards the Canadiens has been made clear more than once.

The revisionist history of Nassau is nauseating. I'm a Hofstra alum and lived in the area for 8 years. We used to walk up and get $5 tickets whenever we wanted in the 2000's. It's a glorified high school gym. It smells bad. The seats are aluminum. The game presentation sucks and their are better concession stands at my high school foot ball stadium. Nassau is a loathsome, terrible, characterless building thats legacy is so old that people under 50 have no memory of it at all. Let's stop talking about the "historic barn." It was a cookie cutter piece of shit built in an era of cookie cutter pieces of shit and it sits in the middle of a giant parking lot nestled between the Meadowbook parkway and Hempstead Turnpike. It sucks. Not everything that is going away needs to be looked at with nostalgia. It's going away because it sucks.

I probably have too many feelings about this narrative ha.

Regarding the first bolded, I hadn't even thought of that. What a series that would've been.

Regarding the second bolded, lol.

I'll be watching the SCF no matter what because I live in Tampa and my circle legitimately includes great hockey fans, including my old boss who's very close to the ownership/management. If it's the Isles (PUKE), then I'll be rooting for them to dispatch the stupid Habs. And that will be unpleasant because I feel like the Habs players are actually more likeable (with a giant exception for Perry). But if it turns out to be Isles-Habs, I do hope it turns into a turgid battle for the NZ and the league suffers. Great sport, worst league, etc. etc.

No, thats just me being a dick. Spaceman’s Bong always claimed to be a die hard fan of both the Sharks and the Habs, which I found a bit too convenient at times, so I’d push buttons about it. He probably was the Habs fan you were thinking of.

A Bruins fan must root for the Lightning. Habs, never and the Islanders are New York and they've already won four cups.
It's tepidly route for the lightning and chalk it up to inevitability or root for a natural disaster. Never the Islanders and never ever EVER the habs.

Yes, the Lightning are the best of an evil lot. Let's just get this over with and move on to next season.

If the Habs win the cup, this might be the most fraudulent championship ever. They wouldn’t have even made the playoffs under the normal alignment, and they got to play two other teams that may not have made the playoffs in a normal year. Simple because they were the only team in their division with a decent goalie or any desire to play defense. Then they beat a team that actually had to play a couple good teams in a much better division over 56 games and two playoff rounds to get there.

I’m hoping Tampa wins tonight and smokes them in 4 games. But I know what’s going to happen with this fucking league. The Islanders are going to win in OT on some fluke goal after Tampa gets like 3 top guys concussed on hits that didn’t get called. Then all of a sudden when the Islanders play Montreal they arms are going to start going up from the guys in stripped shirts every time they breathe on a guy wearing red. Then suddenly the Islanders will look like the Bruins did against them.

The early coping mechanisms in this discussion are really something. Hopefully the Isles win this whole thing to preserve sanity.
The Islanders played actual competition if they get to the finals. If they can knock off Tampa, they earned their trip. But if you think they are going to be allowed to play against Montreal in the finals the way that they played against Pittsburgh, Boston, and Tampa then you haven’t been watching this league and how they operate long enough. And just to be clear, I’m not saying the fix is in, or they are rooting for the teams in Canada or anything. It’s that they really don’t want the officials calling anything in the playoffs. That’s pretty evident over the last few years. The only time they do anything is when the media and public opinion in Canada is all over the league and they fe like they have to start calling things. Then they inevitably go overboard the other way.

You can only play who the schedule tells you to play. Plus they beat a presumably good Toronto team and a very good Vegas team. There's nothing fraudulent about that given the weirdness of playing a full season in the midst of a pandemic.

This post is just another example of why I enjoy this forum so much, I copied it and sent it to a customer of mine who's an Islanders fan, he's been breaking my balls non stop since game 6 vs the Bruins.

So I'm assuming they sell that shitty hockey rink/a piece of floor tile with ketchup and confetti on it/pizza there as well?

I'm bracing myself for them winning on a fluke goal after they kill two or three Tampa players along the way; how many players is that headhunter Clusterfuck going to check head/face first into the glass? Who was the goon that tried to push Stamkos' face through the glass at the end of the period the other night too BTW, another call the refs missed.

Hockey is a great, great sport, playoff hockey is on a level all its own, teams like St. Louis and the Islanders winning cups/advancing far in the playoffs is disconcerting to me and gives me pause as to why I am bothering with any of this and it pains me to say that.
