Round 1 begins at 8 PM ET on ESPN. Currently, the Patriots sit at #15 and are projected to pick at 9:45 PM ET.

No spoilers in this thread please. If you violate this rule and post a spoiler in this thread, you will be removed from both draft threads. Be sure you know which thread you are posting in so that there are no mistakes.

Jacksonville will pick first and is on the clock.

Enjoy the first round!

Admittedly, I don't usually follow the draft the night of and I ask this earnestly and without snark. How can you spoil picks that are made live on TV?

There can be a bit of a delay between when the pick is made and when it is broadcast. It often hits twitter first.

Reporters' sources generally tip them off about the pick before it is announced--sometimes well in advance if there is no chance the team in front will take the player. The teams are sort of required to use a good chunk of their pick time even if they don't need it so that the TV folks can do their spiel as well, so there's some amount of time when all the plugged in folks know for sure but the pick is not yet "in" for TV purposes.

The player gets a call from the team and the pick is handed in minutes before Goodell announces it. So the picks are always leaked - I presume by the agents and/or NFL operatives - to reporters minutes before they are formally announced.

It actually can be a bit irritating if you like suspense because often ESPN will tip the pick by having the analysts magically discuss the selection before it is announced with 100 percent accuracy.

Thank you all for the explanation. That is so weird but also kind of awesome. I understand why there is a no spoiler thread.

As I noted, I don't usually watch the draft but I do listen to a lot of sports podcasts. The amount of coverage the NFL draft gets is actually insane. Wall to wall coverage, on everything. Everywhere. For weeks. I know more about this draft than I knew about every other draft combined.

The NFL is it. Of that there is no doubt.

Most exciting draft I can remember just because of the QBs. My feeling is they like Lance and Fields, in that order, and get one of them. I’ll be pretty upset if they get Mac Jones. If they don’t go QB I hope they restock on OT and CB sometime today or tomorrow and if they can trade back and get 2022 capital that would be great.

I want one of Fields or Lance. If they get either I will be beyond happy. Fields is the 3rd highest guy on my board and while my grade on Lance is lower he has some of the best combination of mental and physical traits in the class. Would be incredible if they somehow went 7-9 picked 15th and still landed one of these premiere guys.

Twitter is often even 2-3 picks ahead but the NFL won't announce faster so they can draw out the event and drama.

The funniest part to me is when the commentators pretend they don't know that a guy already has been drafted and pretend that they are making a bold projection that he might be a fit or someone they like.... when he was already picked 15 minutes ago

I have no idea if they normally do this, but it was a good call to have the Gameday guys on ESPN. I like them much better than most of ESPN's NFL analysts

I don’t really know anything about Tutu Atwell, other than his name is Tutu and I’m pretty sure that I need the call of “Tua to Tutu...Touchdown” in my life.

The draft was so much better in NYC on a Saturday. This sucks. Not a reflection on KoL but let’s go.

I will be absolutely shocked if the Pats trade up and grab one of the QB's.

I will be the absolute opposite of absolutely shocked if the Pats trade down a few times, and end up with someone nobody thought they would take and/or make no picks in round 1.

All day drink fest. One year I tried to do a beer a pick for the first round. It was the Maroney-Chad Jackson draft. That ended well. For both me and the Pats

8 minutes left on the Jags; clock -- they're not going to make us wait the whole time, are they?
