It appears McGrone is recovering from an ACL and previously had an ACL tear in the other knee in 2017. That’s probably how a guy with his talent ends up at the back end of the 5th round.
He’s torn each ACL. Was a redshirt soph. I’ve always liked his talent, as he succeeded Devin Bush inside at Michigan and (prior to the knee injury) had sideline to sideline speed. More run stopper than cover ‘backer. Like most on Michigan’s defense last year, he underachieved. I’m guessing the total overhaul of the defensive coaching staff may have also played a factor in the decision to come out early. Feels like a PUP at the beginning of the year, then try and sneak him onto the practice squad as part of a redshirt year to see if he develops.

McGrone is a 20 YO RS sophomore, why would he have entered the draft? I wonder if someone advised him he would go much higher.
Sometimes guys will declare if they don't think they will get playing time the following season.

Bledsoe is a solid box safety who will play teams. High intangibles pick too FWIW. Not much an athlete but it don’t matter.

What are your thought on Deonte Brown? Should they have drafted him instead of either of the two previous picks?

Tony Pauline’s Will Sherman Scouting Report
Positives: Three-year starter who lined up at both left and right tackle. Athletic, agile college tackle who projects as a zone-blocking guard in the NFL. Sets with a wide base, bends his knees, and blocks with leverage. Fires off the snap, quickly gets to the second level, and can hit a moving target. Displayed a nasty attitude last year and attacked assignments. Rarely off his feet, looks to hit multiple defenders, and works his hands throughout the action. Anchors in pass protection, easily adjusts to pick up the blitz, and covers a lot of area.

Negatives: Must make better use of blocking angles. Struggles handling bigger, stronger opponents. Must be more consistent placing his hands into opponents.

Analysis: Sherman caught my eye off his redshirt freshman campaign, and he really elevated his game in 2020. He lacks the size and skills in pass protection to stay at tackle, but I believe his movement skills and ability to adjust in motion make Sherman the perfect zone-blocking guard.

Perfect. Draft a T who will probably play G in the NFL, which is exactly what the Pats need - interior linemen. Like this selection in the 6th round.
