Really? He hasn't caught a pass since 2017. You would think if there was something left there, he would have found a new team a long time ago.

Clearly using a cooked Dez to prep for N’Keal Harry in a few weeks...

I don't have much to laugh about on SoSH as an Atlanta sports fan, but the never-ending stream of Patriot fans looking to steal all of the Falcons' best players - and then only get Sanu, at the cost of a second-round pick - is a constant source of hilarity.
Cmon, man, you would trade every Falcons 2nd rd pick ad infinitum in exchange for 28-3 ending differently.

Oof that’s bleak.

So....Deion Jones for a 2022 5th isn’t happening? Well...crap.

deep inside Guido territory
Breer with some trade deadline nuggets.
--Golden Tate and Kevin Zeitler have been talked about in trade discussions.
--Vikings are listening, but not necessarily going to do a firesale. Kyle Rudolph has been asked about.
--Zach Ertz has been asked about in trade discussions and was designated as having a major injury which means he can be traded even when on IR.
--Houston may be waiting to see how they do on Sunday before pivoting to trying to trade off pieces like Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, Kenny Stills, and Randal Cobb.
--Jets "are ready to deal".
--Ryan Kerrigan and Ryan Anderson of WFT and also John Ross and Carlos Dunlap of Cincy are available.
--Dante Pettis of SF and Jordan Howard of Miami are available.

Pretty uninspiring list outside of Fuller and Cooks, the former who I would expect to remain in Houston and the latter who I can't see us bringing back. John Ross would be nice if the acquisition cost was low enough but I don't know that I can stomach any real draft capital being used on another 1st round bust WR.

Even Dunlap's corpse is an improvement, but there's some speculation that his decrease of effectiveness is a scheme issue, not an age related one

I really don't think he went from a top defensive end in the league last season to 3rd string on the Bengals quality. I think it's the scheme and coaching staff.

Cowboys cut 3 underperformers from their team, including former run-stuffer Dontari Poe:

Poe was kneeling during the anthem, the only Cowboy to do so, and I don't buy at all that didn't factor in. His stats aren't great (only 7 tackles on the year, no sacks), but that's not far off from Butler (9) or Cowart (10). For reference Cable Guy has 18 and a sack. Seems like a no-brainer to at least bring him in.

·X-rays during this week revealed that Jaguars’ QB Gardner Minshew II has multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right thumb, sources told ESPN. Minshew has had discomfort in his thumb since Oct. 11 at Houston. Jaguars didn’t know about Minshew’s injury until this week

I think he'll play well. He's always been a guy that's played when he wants to and he never meshed with this staff from Day 1 as they've moved more towards a 3-4. This happened last year too when he was nonexistent the first half of the year and became his old self in the second. It's one thing for him to lose snaps to Sam Hubbard and Carl Lawson (likely superior players at this point) and quite another to Amani Bledsoe and Margus Hunt. He may have lost a step, but he's still 6'6/280. I can see him having a big second half if they just line him up at LE and let him do his thing.

Wow. What’s the story on King? I thought he was pretty good.
He's a good slot corner, but you're only getting 8 games out of him, how much is a team really going to give up for 8 games? The Chargers are going nowhere and likely talked to his agent and the number he's asking for isn't one they are interested in paying, so off he goes.

Wow, that probably puts the kibosh on SF's season given how good that division is. 8-8 and probably even 9-7 isn't going to be good enough to get a WC spot in the NFC this year even with expanded playoffs.

Garoppolo has a lot of trouble staying on the field.
He hasn't been all that great when he's on the field either. Have to think the Niners cut bait in the offseason. Saves them a ton of space, with very little dead money.

If SF cut bait with JG and he was a free agent, what would be a reasonable contract for NE to bring him in? He's absolutely a starting level QB in the NFL, even if it seems like he's not the next great thing. He's better than what they have, and if the price isn't much...

I’d pay him 4/$100 no questions asked

My first thought was somewhere around what Teddy Bridgewater just signed for, which was 3/$63M, with $33M guaranteed. I think tims4wins 4/$100M isn't far off that either.

Pettis is the kind of guy that BB should be looking at. 2nd round talent, which is very good. Injuries derailing his career, but if he can ever be healthy...reasonable chance he could give them something.

Couldn’t hurt but finding a WR4/5 isn’t the problem. We have those. We desperately need a WR1/2.

So if you're looking for something to root for, Mullens performing well for the Niners could be a thing. Either creates bigger opportunity for Jimmy G. to get cut, or could elevate Mullens into a candidate for QB of the NEP 2021.
