The NFL has found the next presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show.

Apple Music has been named the official sponsor of the annual music and pop culture event, succeeding Pepsi, which announced earlier this year that it would give up its role in presenting the show. Pepsi had been the lead sponsor of the halftime show for the past decade. Apple Music’s first Super Bowl halftime show will take place Feb. 12, 2023 in Arizona, with performers TBD.
Indeed, an NFL source told The Hollywood Reporter last year that if Pepsi did pull out, the league was hoping to find a new sponsor that could make the show “bigger, taking different aspects of it and making it stand way outside of the 12 minutes.”
hopefully this means we can get some good halftime shows like last year and not singers and not like previous ones

My first thought as well. I was expecting an announcement at the October event, if they won the Ticket package. This would be a nice double shot.

I don't think Apple ponies up for the halftime show and doesn't win the bid.

After the tomfoolery of the last two weeks, we can only pray that someone takes Sunday Ticket away from DirecTV.

I think that's a near certainty. Has to be a bidding war between Apple, Disney and Amazon. Sounds like Google is in the fold as well. An absolute perfect situation for the NFL and its owners/players.

I expect a halftime show 40% more expensive than the last one with little noticeable difference in performance.
Taylor Swift is still looming as an option, although I'll stand by my prediction she doesn't do it until after she suffers her first real career disappointment.

But she does have an album coming out in a month, so...

I was listening to BS Podcast with Nathan Hubbard from back in 2017 and this seems like a rumor going on forever (like bringing back the NFL to LA). Why do ppl think she needs it, ever?

The last time she performed with NFL was at the start of the 2010 season opener.

edit: oh I see, NFL never issue press releases at midnight Taylor Swift Playing 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show? Here’s Why Fans Think So – Billboard

It's the biggest stage in the world.

She doesn't need it. But it is the biggest stage in the world. That has quite a bit of value to any performer. For example, I didn't know Bruno Mars' music until he did the super bowl. I've since been to 3 of his concerts and have bought all his records. And I stream his music on Spotify all the time.

That would make sense. There are also a lot of the same report out there this week, that she doesn't want to play the Super Bowl until she's done re-recording the earlier albums (the ones where she doesn't own the rights).

That makes sense!

She’s still riding an incredible streak and it makes no sense to use up a one-time publicity event unless you need to. Likewise, if she wants to goose her old albums, she won’t do so until she can reap the profits herself.

I recall Rihanna did a good medley at the NBA All Star game 10 years ago. She's very talented and all, but a Shy Ronnie collaboration would be nice.

Rihanna is only 34 now?! She first charted in the mid 2000s and has so many hit singles it feels like she should be 40 at least.

15 when she first recorded Pon the Replay. 17 when she signed a 6 album deal with Jay-Z at Def Jam, released her first album, and had a #2 hit with Pon.

Besides TSwift, Rihanna is one of the artists who makes a ton of sense. Huge back catalog of chart toppers with fairly wide appeal.
