No, that's not what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is he was still a talented QB, so he was given a second chance, a chance he earned after paying his debt to society. He was "allowed back into the league" because he earned his way in, which was fair and correct.

If he was no longer talented and could not catch on with another team, would people have said it was because of his crimes or because he was no longer talented enough?
Ah, gotcha. And agreed.

Looked like he had a hell of a game yesterday, and not sure why they let him go. They got him and a 5th for Marcus Peters last year. Then they get a 6th and a 7th in 2024?

The Rams don't seem loaded at LB, particularly in the middle. Kind of a head scratcher to me, but anything that weakens the Rams is fine with me.

I think they want to get Ernest Jones, their 3rd round pick more playing time.

Why? Even if Wilson is hurt, they shouldn’t be trying to win at this point. Is Flacco valuable as a Crash Davis type?
Flacco played pretty good for Gase, played close against you guys last year. I think you have to keep the locker room to develop the rest of the young players. They play a lot of young guys and rookies a lot of snaps. I don’t think it’s so much about winning but trying to give the team a chance to compete.

I suppose I can see that, assuming Wilson is really hurt.

Houston Texans Chairman and CEO Cal McNair made a racially insensitive comment at the team’s charity golf tournament in May, causing gasps in the audience and upsetting numerous employees, according to several witnesses.

McNair, addressing more than 100 attendees at the Houston Texans Foundation Charity Golf Classic at River Oaks Country Club, spoke into a microphone just outside the pro shop as participants gathered in their carts before leaving to tee off via a shotgun-start format.
At the end of his brief remarks, according to two witnesses who asked to remain anonymous, McNair – whose family has owned the Texans since they were founded in 1999 – told the crowd, “I’m sorry that we couldn’t get together last year, because of the China Virus.”

After Cal McNair’s comments at the golf tournament, according to one attendee, Hannah McNair joked about her husband’s use of the term “China Virus” to several people who had been present for the remark. The previous week, according to an organizational source, Hannah McNair — the vice president of the Texans Foundation — had made a public-facing visit to a local Asian community center.

Wasn't he the one that made the remarks about "owning" players that was fairly racially insensitive?

That was papa McNair, who said it would be allowing ‘the inmates to run the prison’ if players were allowed to protest during the anthem.

Like father, like son. Gotta love it when these old school bigot owners pass along their franchises to a new generation of proto-idiots.

This has to be bullshit, right?
The Texans have held out for five or six key pieces for Watson, including at least three first-round picks. No one has met that to this point. League sources said the Panthers are willing to part with three high picks and All Pro running back Christian McCaffrey in a package for Watson; the Texans are very high on several of the Panthers' young defensive standouts (still on their rookie contracts and younger and cheaper than McCaffrey), and the sides have yet to reach a compromise.

It's got to be BS. The Panthers next year have their first rounder, 2 4th rounders (the Rams and Texans), 2 5ths and 2 7ths. So the deal would have to be 2022 1st, 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, and McCaffrey and whoever else (I'm guessing Darnold would be part of the deal). Even assuming Watson plays right away, what is he going to have for a team around him? RB will be a wasteland, he's got 2 good WRs and that's about it. Why would Watson even want to go there? Carolina's defense is decent, but the offense is awful. I'd say Watson would veto a deal there anyway unless McCaffrey stayed.

This was yesterday, but I don't think I've seen discussion on it anywhere (guessing there was some in the non Patriots game thread):

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32518652/atlanta-falcons-calvin-ridley-inactive-vs-carolina-panthers-due-personal-matter

Ridley is walking away from football for foreseeable future. Hard to know what they means or what the timeline is. It's a pleasant trend to see more athletes focusing on their own health with Ridley joining Biles and Osaka as high profile athletes just off the top of my head this year.

With the news that DEN is trading Von Miller.. and I guess giving up on this season? The Titans should call about Melvin Gordon. He's a legitimately GOOD RB in all phases of the game, and if they are re-setting that roster they probably want to clear space for their early 2nd round pick Williams.

Also, just realized they have Mike Boone... who is also better than AP and I assume cheap.

Wonder if they make a trade. Hill as full time QB is dicey (and he just got concussed), Sieman....
Wonder if they ring up MIA about Brissett. He'd fit well. Cam is another option, but I doubt it.

Somebody, maybe Florio, wondered about Cam in NOLA – the thinking was that Payton saw Cam twice a year for like a decade. But it was just spitballing.

I like Cam so I’m pulling for him to land there.

Mariota too.
Raiders are 5-2 and currently have the inside track on the 2 seed, can't see them going forward with Nathan Peterman as their backup (especially since the guy who was enamored with him is gone).

Feels like Hill can step in and be fine.
I'm dubious, but even if he can I think they should be exploring a backup who does more of the running things that Hill and Jameis did, that's a contending team, you want insurance for performance/injury with Hill.

The 2 seed isn't meaningless, obviously, but it's not nearly as important as it has been in the past, since the 2 seed doesn't get a bye.

Follow the clues and solve the mystery

Trading the author if we had his rights would make more sense. Maybe KC guy had no trade and they just want to shed his salary. It is a dumb trade as reported.
