Not sure where to post this, so Ill put it here.

For those of you who do have Direct TV like myself, a call into them and some well spent negotiation time goes a long way.  I was able to secure some credits ($20/month for 12 months) by dealing with customer service, then I had them transfer me to cancel the NFL Sunday Ticket max.    Once in cancellations, I told them the $300 price was way too high and I could not afford it.  They offered me $180 and I declined that but told them if they could get it under $100 I would consider it.   Once again, transferred to their "resolutions" (I believe that was the name) department, we were able to work out a price of $0 for the price, with a 1 year commitment (I was out of contract), which I do not mind, because I was not going anywhere anyway (Verizon Fios is not here in CT or I would be gone).

Just a heads up in case you have the service, they can be talked way down.

The fact that some of you are having to think of VPNs, or foreign exchange rates, perfectly crystallizes why the NFL should get more shit for their digital presence. It's beyond the pale that they still treat the Internet as an enemy.

I agree with this 1,000%. I don't understand how such a media savvy organization is so behind on the internet. I understand path-dependent/inertia effects of existing TV deals and entrenched ways of doing things, but the whole thing seems weird.

On the other hand, Time Warner just dropped CBS in NYC, Dallas and LA which I would have previously thought unthinkable. I have to believe DVR is changing a lot of profitability as well. The newspapers have fallen, who knows what's next for broadcast television.

Personally: I hope the internet destroys the industry. :) Big Music has somehow managed to plod on, of course...

For the record - I am in Austria and Gamepass is awesome here and by far the best way to watch the NFL.

I merely paid in Real instead of Euro as it is 30 bucks cheaper that way; not ideal but better than eg. most other digital purchases where you usually get 1$ = 1€ and can't pay in any other currency but your own.

For the US, your point is obviously valid.

So I just logged in using a Netherlands VPN and was able to watch a live preseason game without inputting any login, password, or information. We'll see how it holds up in the regular season.

RSND - how did you get yourself a Netherlands VPN? By paying or using a VPN service? If former, which hosting company did you use?

I've got neither cable, DirecTV, nor PS3 (cut out cable/DTV long time ago, PS3 is broken), and would love to get streaming on computer or mobile - especially outside of my home network.

I've been using WiTopia with MLB.tv all summer (when the game I want to watch is blacked out).
I just connected to Amsterdam VPN and it appears I should be able to watch the Patriots game for free tonight.

Rev, I did pretty much exactly what I posted.  When I got into the cancellations department for Sunday Ticket I told them I needed a lower price, and they immediately cut the $300 to $180.  When I rejected that, I said I really needed below $100, and the cancellations department said they did not have authority to go lower, but they would transfer me to the department that could.  The guy there offered me $129 initially, but then came back and said he found the even better deal of extend for 1 year and the price was free for the Sunday Ticket.   This is the 2nd year I have called, last year I paid $75.

First time using Game Pass.  I'm impressed with the video quality.  I'd be willing to pay for this if it was available.

DTV gave me Sunday Ticket for free when I called last week in my annual,"threaten to cancel to lower the bill" game. I didn't ask for it, don't really care about it (I just want Red Zone).

I was off contract which might help, but lots are getting ST for free. If you have DTV, call and say cancel to get to retention s, they make the deals.

Just called to cancel Sunday Ticket and they dropped the price to $19.99/month for the 6 months, and they also gave me a credit of $20/month for 12 months, so I'm actually somehow making $120 back. WOOT!

I've been using privateinternetaccess.com. I can choose between a host of US locations (I'll need this tonight tomorrow night, as I'm blacked out from any Nationals or Orioles games), and several foreign countries. This is how I watched a lot of the NHL playoffs after ditching cable, though I will say that the Netherlands hookup ran a lot slower than some of the other countries I've used. It might have been a variety of factors, though.

I got this VPN through a rec from someone else, but Lifehacker has a list of the top five VPNs from a survey they conducted. Privateinternetaccess.com was one of them, but I'd bet the other four are just as good. I think I pay like $8 a month.

Looks like this wont be on the PS3 this year.

Did anyone use the Madden Code and, if so, has anyone been able to access content?  I used the code, but Im unable to access any content. the IPad app is just sending me to a screen with the DirectTV logo and I cant find anywhere to log into the service on a laptop, I just end up looping through the Directv website and never getting to the actual Sunday Ticket content.

I used the code, it took me to a screen that said, "Games start September 8th." Seemed to work fine. On your laptop try directv.com/EASpecial to log in.

Yeah that's what I was just trying, kept looping.  Maybe it will just work once the season starts, just have visions of me being pissed off at 12:50 Sunday. Thanks for the help.  I remember it being a pain in the ass to find the actual videos within the DirectTV site last year too.

EDIT: worked after I closed and reopened my browser, so guess that will be a good link.  This was finicky last year too, sometimes it would just keep asking me to log-in and never bring me to the games on a computer.  Guess if it happens to anyone else, troubleshooting with close/reopen browser is a good first step.  Thanks again

So if I buy the Madden just for the Directv without even having a console, will it work? i.e. do I need to do anything to unlock the code in the game itself or is it just printed on the box or something?

The code is printed on a sheet inside of the case. You don't need the video game itself to access the Sunday Ticket promotion.

I haven't really been paying attention, but saw the ad this morning for the Madden promotion through Amazon. So, if I'm understanding this correctly, I pay Amazon $100 and they will send me the game plus a code to get Sunday Ticket, through my receiver, not a streaming device? I have DirectTV, but we've never subscribed to ST due to the price.

So basically buy the game, take the code out, and immediately sell it to GameStop or somewhere that buys used games and recoup probably 50% what you paid for it. Well, if you're a cheap asshole like me you might want to do that.

By the way, if you've have DirecTV and have never had the package you can usually get it for free if you call up and ask/bitch about it. I usually do this every year and get it for free. Haven't gotten around to it yet this year. It helps if you are out of contract as they may try to have you extend it a year.

You're probably right on RedZone, but the FAQ the Amazon page does call out tablets as supported:

2013 regular season (17 weeks) of NFL Sunday Ticket on computer, tablet, and mobile devices.

Do you still need a DirectTV account to use the Madden NFL Ticket? I cut the cord a couple years ago so don't have any interest in signing up for DirectTV.

Hmm - all I know is that when I entered my code and created my account, it credited me with NFL Sunday Ticket. the sign-up page states that it requires MAX to use on tablets/phones. Interesting disagreement there.

No - you can watch it through the web interface. I did it last year. There are also tablet and phone apps, although not 100% sure those will work (they should - given icculus's post earlier).

Unfortunately, I think the Sunday Ticket package you get with Madden is just Sunday Ticket, not Sunday Ticket Max. That means no RedZone channel, which is a big bummer. I might want to upgrade service just for that. I think it may also mean no tablet support.

I bought the Madden 25 anniversary addition because of Sunday Ticket.  It specifically mentions "Sunday Ticket Max" on the back of the page with your username and password to watch it.

Really? Did you get it for the 360? I'm looking at my sheet with the user/password on it right now and seeing no reference of MAX at all - just "NFL Sunday Ticket" everywhere.

How much information do you have to provide when you sign up for online access using the Madden deal?  Until a few months ago, I was a long-time DirecTV customer, so if i have to provide a real name and/or address, it will presumably know that I am, in fact, able to get DirecTV.

Yes I got it for 360.  One of the specifics it mentions is "If you are already a DIRECTV NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX subscriber", which I infer to mean that this is the MAX subscription.  Also the picture showing how to activate this on the EA Sports website has the RZC which indicates it is MAX as well.

i should have mentioned this first but NFL Sunday Ticket MAX is the only package that has online streaming via mobile devices.

You don't give any information.  You go to the website on the card, type in the user name and password it gives you, and you are done.

The anniversary edition comes with Sunday Ticket Max access that you can use on a tablet or PC or phone.  100% certain.

EDIT: Pretty sure you are going to have the Red Zone channel as well, although its a different Red Zone channel than the one on cable.

Well I'm psyched it's MAX. What a deal. I paid almost $300 for this happily last year. Now I've got it for an extra $50 on top of the Madden I was going to buy anyway. The online interface looks better this year too. Just awesome.

For Game Pass on PCs, you have to clear out the cache for the entire browser (and restart browser if necessary) to get it going again.

DirecTV Red Zone channel has Andrew Siciliano, while the "real" Red Zone channel has Scott Hanson.  I've always been a bigger fan of Hanson, but Siciliano kind of grew on me as last season went on.

Other than the hosts, they're pretty much the same.

On one of my computers, the Madden DirectTV code did not work. It kept taking me to the account page, saying something has changed on my account. On another computer(a Mac, not a PC), it worked and I'm watching it right now. Not sure why this happened, I did clear the Cache and it still didn't work.

We'll see if this works for the year. I have the ability to get Direct TV where I live and I was wondering if that is why I was getting blocked out. But then it worked on the Mac, so I have no idea what is happening.

The iPad Sunday Ticket app stream has been rock solid so far, but Airplay streaming through my Apple TV is audio only.  I switched to my computer and I'm able to stream audio and video to my TV in close to HD quality, but the full screen stream crops off the bottom of the screen and the web stream has frozen a couple of times.

Sunday Ticket has been a joke for me so far.  Losing the stream and then taking about 10 minutes to log back into the site.  I thought it'd be better than the PS3 app was but not impressed so far.

Are you streaming from a Mac via AirPlay? If so, go into your Mac OS Display preferences and change resolution from Best For AirPlay to Best For Built In Display. That'll make your full screen full
