Saw it in college it’s just magnified now. Fields has zero pocket awareness. Great arm, can make plays with his feet, but has no peripheral vision. Like at all.

If the Patriots drafted Fields, Cam would still be the quarterback
I think Fields would look a lot better here, he's stuck on a team with the terrible combination of a bad coach and a not that good line. He's definitely less NFL ready than Jones, but having Nagy as his coach is making it a lot worse.

Agreed, I can’t even discern what the plan for him is.

The ball actually didn’t really move even though he flubbed the catch. No idea what they will call.

I didn’t think it was a catch live and still don’t after replay (though I think closer after replay)

Weak to call a screen on 3rd and goal from the 15 if you aren’t willing to GFI on 4th and goal from the 4. I understand taking the points, but if that’s your philosophy, you have to call a 3rd down play that gives you more than a snowball’s chance to score the touchdown.

All of this is terrible - terrible QB play, terrible refs, terrible defense, terrible play calling

On the bad slide yes, but getting hit from behind a full 2 count after releasing the ball is some bullshit.
That’s the referee’s call; he would be positioned behind and to the right of Fields. From that angle, I can see why he might have thought the rusher was blocked into Fields. The reverse angle makes clear that wasn’t the case, but I don’t think there’s an official with that angle who is watching the QB, as opposed to the action along the line of scrimmage or downfield. Still a mistake, but I don’t think an official watched what we watched and said “yup, that’s a clean play.”

Is it so hard to have that replay official weigh in on stuff like late hits and roughing the passer? This stuff would be taken care of in thirty seconds.

Also, Chicago’s edge rusher was tackled on that play.
