This is related to the concussion lawsuit brought against the NHL.

No smoking guns yet but Colin Cambell does come off exactly as one would expect him to. Also very interesting to see just how connected McKenzie and Dreger are to the NHL.

Globe and Mail piece on this

HFboards has a good thread going where they have sorted some of the best exchanges. Not going to link to that but very easy to find. Shanahan and Bettman come off pretty good, Cambell and Murphy look like HFboards trolls.

Stealing a HF Boards post:

One of the Campbell/McKenzie ones has them talking about how less clutching and grabbing has opened the game up too much where players only have the option to try to throw hits to stop guys. Basically why the new version of a dead puck era is starting to form and refs are being told to let more of that stuff go now. Opening up the game helped open up the league to having even more concussions to deal with.

These are ugly. The league is somewhat fortunate that buffoonery of Roger and the gang down at the NFL offices has taken some of the spotlight away from the NHL's concussion lawsuit.

Edit: The Campbell email about Savard was to Mike Millbury. Woof.

That Campbell email about Savard is sickening. What a fucking asshole.
Why?

If Savard was smart enough to keep his head up, he could have caught an elbow to the throat or face instead of his head. A broken larynx or shattered orbital bone is just part of hockey, bro.

Concussions don't count if you can't play the game well enough to merit a roster spot without fighting :fonz:

edit: This exchange from May, 2013 alone should get Campbell fired.

Reasonable, coherent argument from Ottawa's trainer Gerry Townsend (trainer rep for Concussion Working Group) for more answers from the League on steps being taken around protocol and concussion education, as they and team physicians ultimately have to determine whether or not players are cleared.

Campbell's reply

edit 2: easter egg - unredacted competition committee meeting
