The only thing better than the impending Maddon spinfest will be watching the AL champ steamroll these NY frauds.

Talk about a win/win; I'm buying what you're selling here.

And there's the Marlins fan behind home plate again; what the fuck is with this guy

He is known as “Marlins Man” because he is seated – well, actually he mostly stands – in the front row behind home plate wearing a bright orange Miami Marlins jersey and visor. You can’t miss him. He sticks out like an orange thumb.

So, as it turns out, “Marlins Man” is on my connecting flights Monday from San Francisco to Kansas City as the World Series returns there for Game 6 on Tuesday night. So, on the layover in Phoenix, I asked him the questions folks have told me they wondered, mainly:

Who?

Why?

How?

As for the who part, the man is Laurence Leavy and he lives in North Miami Beach, Fla. He is an attorney who runs a 47-employee law firm in Miami – thus, the Marlins garb.

Why does he do it? He is a self-described sports nut who tries to go to every major sporting event he can – World Series, Super Bowl, NBA finals, Kentucky Derby, etc. He estimated he travels upwards of 300 days a year across the country to attend these events.

“I love the energy at these big sporting events,” said Leavy, who has a vast multi-sport memorabilia collection. “It’s like an addiction. You wish your team could have it every year. I was at every game when the Marlins played in their two World Series.”

How does he get those great seats, you ask? He told me he gets them primarily on the secondary market but also has developed contacts in various cities, such as San Francisco, from attending sports events in the past.

Basically, Leavy decided if you’re going to take the time and effort to attend these events, you might as well sit in the best seats.

Totally agree.  He seems like the logical move.

Thor in the NLDS was a 'break glass in emergency' kind of thing - worst case, up 3-1 with Harvey/Thor/DeGrom in games 5/6/7, I don't think they use him out of the bullpen.

Colon has been great this year, I don't see any problem with Colon unless it gets much much closer

Honestly, I wouldn't; I'm a Boston sports fan through and through, I wouldn't enjoy myself at a game if I had no rooting interest with either team, but that's just me.

If I had his kind of dough, I spend it on strippers, booze, cigarettes and fire engines.

Thanks for the explanation as to what his deal is.
