It might have been Greinke's job
Probably not, since they wouldn't be shifting the next batter anyway. Gotta be the third baseman's responsibility to get over once the walk occurs.

It was probably a coaching error, too.

Dude was all the way in RF. Sure he could have bolted over immediately after the BB but there were other dudes closer to the bag than he was.

Oh, well the SS then. I thought that was 3b standing over second, not the SS.

Would anybody else have gone right to Syndergaard here? I feel like you can't give DeGrom a chance to cough it back up after how shaky he's looked through 3.

yes

Edit: he keeps on getting out of it. It seems as tho LA has had a boat=load of guys on base.

Mets Terry Collins

More honestly, I think it's a mix of 'it's the 5th inning, and the Mets really at best have 2-3 innings of relievers they trust' and that Syndergaard is really a last resort option, he hasn't relieved ever and they absolutely don't want to injure him and blow his future for this one game

I don't agree with it (especially DeGrom hitting), but I can vaguely see some sense in it.

And who would've thought Tommy Lasorda would still be around?

Actually, who would've thought out of all of the fucked up Mets, that Gary Carter would be the one not to be here today

The Dodgers are going to rue not putting this game away in inning 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

I'm not sure which has been the more 'ugly but effective' start, DeGrom or Harvey's game 3 start.

I'm about to have an aneurism here.

Also, in today's 'Game Score is ridiculous', DeGrom: 51 (6H 3W in 5IP) Greinke: 59 (3H 1W)

Starting to feel like a game the Mets should lose, but one they are going to figure out a way to steal.

I give deGrom the 7, 8, 9 hitters and then get him out. He's gathered a real good kind of nerve in this game, one a starter-turned reliever isn't likely to have when he comes in—see Keuchel, Dallas.

I don't think much of Collins, but credit where it's due.  I'd have had deGrom's ass out of there after the leadoff walk in the second.  And here we are.

After the Mets won the WS in 86, Davey Johnson did Rolaids commercials.

After this stomach churning game, I can only wonder what Collins will pitch
