I imagine part of the reason the deadline was so boring was because the cap is going to jump up so much. So many teams are going to have cap space at the end of the season that they don't feel that much pressure to improve their team right now, because they have convinced themselves that they can get better by luring a free agent. That created a belief that you didn't have to really make a move unless you got a top level offer. I think it is telling that only a couple teams (Orlando, Phoenix, Detroit) were really active over the last few days, everyone else was content to stay put.
